Former vice president Atiku Abubakar’s son has tested positive for the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

Abubakar revealed this on his verified Twitter handle late on Sunday night.

The former Vice President, who had a few hours before then issued a statement calling on Nigerians to join forces in fighting the disease, however, did not mention the name of the son involved.

Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari has advocated a total lockdown of Nigeria as the cases of covid19 rise daily.

 

Aisha Buhari on her Twitter handle commended state governors that have closed down schools, but said the action could be counter-productive if parents still go to work.

 

She students should not be isolated, only for their parents to be exposed to the virus, as they could bring the disease home

Nigeria Centre For Disease Control Records5 More Cases Of Covid19: Total Case Of 36 In The Country.

Five new cases of the novel corona virus (COVID-19) have been confirmed in Nigeria.

As of today, March 23, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) stated that there are 2 cases in FCT, 2 in Lagos and 1 in Edo of which 2 cases are returning travelers from the UK.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Nigeria to 35, while 2 persons have already been discharged.

Director General of the NCDC, Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu gave the breakdown of cases by states currently to be Lagos- 24, FCT- 6,

Ogun- 2, Ekiti- 1, Oyo- 1 and Edo.

Dr. Chikwe dispelled the rumor that recovered victims will permanently suffer 50 % lung damage, leading to death from complications.

Nigeria Records First Covid19-Related Death

 

Nigeria has recorded its 1st death from the novel coronavirus also known as COVID19.

The case was a 67-year old male who recently returned to the country after a medical procedure in the United Kingdom identified as Engineer Suleiman Achimugu.

Engineer Achimugu was a former Managing Director of the Petroleum Products Pricing and Regulatory Commission, PPPRC.

According to the NCDC, he had underlying medical conditions- multiple myeloma & diabetes, and was undergoing chemotherapy.
