Rihanna’s luxury Fashion House Has Been Discontinued After Two Years

Rihanna's clothing line, "Fenty Fashion House," is being suspended indefinitely, luxury conglomerate LVMH announced today. LVMH confirmed the development exclusively to WWD via a brief statement saying: “Rihanna and LVMH have jointly made the decision to put on hold the ready-to-wear activity, based in Europe, pending better conditions.”

The fashion line which was launched in 2019 made history being the first luxury brand run by a black woman. It was also only the second luxury fashion house started from scratch by the French conglomerate LVMH – after Christian Lacroix. In 2014, she became the creative director of Puma and has also created collections for British store River Island.

The shuttering of the fashion arm of Fenty will not affect its side projects, the lingerie arm Savage X Fenty and Fenty Skin, which are both considered success in their field: the former made $108m (£78m) last year and the latter, which is available in Boots, has made £26m in four months, according to WWD.

Fenty’s final collection, a collaboration with the footwear designer Amina Muaddi, was in November last year and its last Instagram post was on 1 January.

Soyinka’s Son Denies Rumored Attack On Father’s Abeokuta Residence By Suspected Herdsmen

In a related development, the residence of Nobel Laureate, Professor WOLE SOYINKA, located in Abeokuta Ogun State, was neither attacked nor invaded by suspected herdsmen.

His son, Dr OLAOKUN SOYINKA confirmed this in a statement, after rumours had made the rounds that his home had been under attack and invaded by cows.

He, however, confirmed that cows did stray into the land belonging to the Nobel Laureate.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. EDWARD AJOGUN who visited the residence following the report, explained that three cows indeed strayed into the compound of the literary icon.

While giving an assurance of adequate protection of life and property, the state police boss described the incident as a trespass on the part of the herders.

February 10, 2021 Court unfreezes bank accounts of #ENDSARS campaigners after 3 months

Court unfreezes bank accounts of #ENDSARS campaigners after 3 months

The court has ordered that all affected accounts be defreeze with immediate effect.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has removed a controversial freeze order placed last year on the bank accounts of 20 #EndSARS campaigners.

Hundreds of Nigerians had peacefully protested in many states across the country in October 2020 to demand an end to years of wanton police brutality.

Many of the campaigners for the demonstrations raised funds to bankroll sustenance, medical emergencies, and legal aid for the protesters.

This led the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to freeze the accounts of 20 such campaigners in October, before securing a court order in November.

The order was initially set for a period of 90 days pending the outcome of investigation, after which an extension could be requested.

During a resumed hearing regarding the order on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, the CBN resolved to withdraw all the processes filed before the court, prompting Justice Ahmed Mohammed to order that all accounts be defreeze.

The CBN said it was withdrawing all processes in the spirit of reconciliation, but the apex bank last year accused the campaigners of suspected terrorism funding.

The bank's governor, Godwin Emefiele, argued that the transactions through the accounts could cause significant economic and security harm to the country if left unchecked.

Justice Mohammed granted the order on November 5, a ruling that was met with public outrage.

The banks ordered to freeze the accounts of the #EndSARS campaigners are Access Bank, Fidelity Bank, First Bank, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB), Zenith Bank, and United Bank for Africa (UBA).
