Ondo Govt Arraigns 4 Suspected Killers of Funke Olakurin

Ondo State government has arraigned four men suspected to have killed Mrs FUNKE OLAKUNRIN, the daughter of the National Leader of Afenifere, Pa REUBEN FASORANTI.

They were brought before a Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Those arraigned include; LAWAL MAZAJE from the Felele area of Kogi State, ADAMU ADAMU from Jada area of Adamawa State, MOHAMMED USMAN from Illela area of Sokoto State, and AUWAL ABUBAKAR from Shinkafi area of Zamfara State.

They were brought to the court by security operatives, one week after the police announced their arrest in a statement.

Mrs. FUNKE OLAKUNRIN was killed by suspected robbers on Friday July 12, 2019 while travelling along Kajola on the Benin-Ore Expressway.

108 New Cases of Covid-19 In The Country; Totaling 981

Nigeria now has 981 infections from novel Coronavirus following the additional 108 cases announced last night by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

According to the NCDC, 78 of the new infections were recorded in Lagos, 14 in FCT, 5 in Ogun state, 4 in Gombe, 3 in Borno, 2 in Akwa Ibom while Kwara and Plateau states recorded one each.

The country’s total deaths from the virus now stand at 31 while 197 have recovered.

Further breakdown shows that Lagos now has 582 cases, FCT-133, Kano-73, Ogun-29, Katsina-21, Osun-20, Oyo-17, Edo-17 and Borno-12, Kwara-11, Akwa Ibom-11, Kaduna-9, Gombe-9, Bauchi-8
and Delta-6.

Other states that have recorded cases include; Ekiti, Ondo, Rivers,
Jigawa, Enugu, Niger, Abia, Benue, Anambra, Sokoto,  Adamawa, and Plateau.

Nigeria Governors Forum recommends two-Week inter-state border lockdown to curb spread of COVID-19

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has called for the decentralisation of COVID-19 response as well as an inter-state lockdown as the best chance of nipping spread of the virus in communities in the country.

The forum made the call in a communiqué issued after its teleconference meeting, signed by its Chairman and Governor of Ekiti, Dr Kayode Fayemi.

Fayemi said that the call was imperative with over 25 states now affected by spread of the virus and increasing evidence of community transmission.

NCDC reports 91 fresh COVID-19 patients, total cases in Nigeria now 873

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has announced 91 new cases of COVID-19 in the country.

The centre said in a tweet that 74 of those cases were found in Lagos while five were recorded in Katsina and four in Ogun.

 Delta and Edo states recorded two cases while Kwara, Oyo, Abuja and Adamawa had one each.

 The fresh cases take the total tally to 873 with 197 recoveries and 28 deaths.
