The National Council on Sports (NSC) has approved the postponement of the National Sports Festival from January to February 14 – 28, 2021.
Dotti Wins MTN Y’ello Star Competition
The MTN Y’ello Star talent show came to a rousing end on Sunday, December 13, 2020 with contestant, Dotti emerging winner.
It was a tough battle for the judges with contenders like Freeborn, Ceasar, Storm, Gideon and Fay Fay Diamond making it to the final stage of the game.
The winner of the night, Dotti got a cash prize of N5 million, a Berklee college scholarship, an opportunity to record a song at the Power Studio in New York with international acts including six-time Grammy award winner, Malik Yusef.
Dotti also gets a brand new apartment with an in-built studio, a recording contract and a brand new car.
Indigenous People Of Biafra Launches Security Outfit For South-East, South-South
The Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) has launched an outfit known as the Eastern Security Network for the southern region.
In a statement on Sunday, IPOB Spokesman, EMMA POWERFUL said the objective of the security network is to protect the south-east and south-south from criminal activities and terrorist attacks.
According to POWERFUL, the outfit is a replica of Amotekun launched by the governors of the south-west to curb insecurity in that region.
The spokesman said the security outfit became necessary following what he described as the “failure” of the governors of the south-east and south-south to put in place measures that will protect the people in those regions.
Protest Rocks Katsina Over Kidnap Of Schoolboys
Protest rocked Kastina State yesterday over the abduction of many schoolboys from the Government Science Secondary School, Kankara in the Kankara Local Government Area of the state.
The protesters demanded the prompt rescue of students abducted by bandits on Friday night.
The protest was led by a woman who identified herself as one of the mothers of the abducted students.
This protest comes as the Coalition of Northern Groups has threatened to mobilise Katsina residents on continuous street protest if government fails to secure the release of students of the students in due course.
The group’s North-West Coordinator, JAMILU CHARANCHI, said the bandits’ attacks is a highpoint of the inability of the state government to handle the challenges that is insecurity.
