Alleged Plan To Run Smear Campaign Against President Buhari

The Presidency is worried over ongoing alleged plan to launch "a smear campaign" against President, MUHAMMADU BUHARI.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, FEMI ADESINA, claimed that the plan of the sponsors, who he described as "disgruntled political elements", is to portray BUHARI as not being in charge of the country through cooked-up media stories, especially online.

He made the claim in a statement titled, 'Smear campaign alert against the President'.

The presidential aide, therefore, called on Nigerians to be discerning in what they consume as news and special reports from such online media.

Breaking! Notable Nigerian Scholar Sheikh Ahmed Lemu Is Dead

Notable Nigerian Scholar and pedagogue Sheikh AHMED LEMU is dead.

According to facebook post his daughter, MARYAM LEMU, the scholar passed on in the early hours of today in Minna, Niger State.

Sheikh AHMED LEMU who was born in Lemu , Niger State,  on 21st December, 1929 received his early education at the Quranic School in 1932, followed by the elementary school (1939), then the intermediate school (currently the Government College) in Lemu.

 Thereafter, he joined the School of Shari'a Law (currently the School of Arabic Studies) in Lemu from which he obtained Middle (1950) and High (1952) Teachers' Certificate (Level Two) in Arabic Language, Islamic Studies, Shari'a Jurisdiction and General Education. In 1954, he went to the United Kingdom to study  at London University's School of African and Oriental Studies.

Lagos State Police Command Parades At Least 103 People For Violation Of Covid-19 Orders And Others

At least 103 people have been paraded by the Lagos State Police Command for various offences.

The State Commissioner for police, HAKEEM ODUMOSU, while parading them at the headquarters in Ikeja said some were arrested for violating the state government's order to curb the spread of COVID-19.

According to him, others were arrested for dispossessing unsuspecting members of the public of their valuables, burning and looting of police stations during the unrest that followed the #EndSARS protests in the state.

Given a breakdown, ODUMOSU said, 67 suspects were arrested for burning and looting arms from police stations; 18 suspects were arrested for violating COVID-19 restrictions; while 18 suspects were also arrested for armed robbery and unlawful possession of firearms.

Kieran Trippier Handed 10-Week Ban For Breaching Betting Rules

England and Atletico Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier has been given a 10-week worldwide football ban and fined £70,000 after a Football Association panel found he broke betting rules.

The 30-year-old denied seven alleged breaches, but four were found proven during a personal hearing.

The offences occurred in July 2019, which is when Trippier joined Atletico from Tottenham Hotspur.

His ban from all football is effective immediately.

He will miss 12 games for La Liga leaders Atletico, including their Champions League last-16 first leg tie at home to Chelsea on 23 February.
