The newly sworn-in Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare, says he’s ready to engage in confrontation and dialogue to ensure that he delivers on his new assignment.

He said this at the sideline of his inauguration on Wednesday in Abuja.

After the inauguration, Dare visited the ministry and was given a rousing reception by staff of the ministry.

The new minister assured Nigerians of “total reorientation”, saying that he would boost the development of the ministry with his professional experience in the public sector.

“We are going to have necessary crucial conversation and engagement with all stakeholders when necessary to be able to empower not just the youths but also to develop sports to bring it at par with global 21st century sport.

  “So, we go to work from today and it can be done because we have the resources, we have the personnel and we have the expertise.

 “We will settle down, we will have conversations when necessary, some will be crucial and some will be confrontational but eventually we will come up with plans that will work for our country, work for our youth and works for our sports development,”

He also promised to intensify efforts at youth development alongside sports during his tenure, adding that he will not only focus on football.

The minister said he would use his over two decades media visibility to ensure that the works of the ministry were effectively projected by the media.
