Iheanacho scores, assists in Leicester victory over villa

Super eagles’ forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, assisted the English forward, Jamie vardy in the opening 20 minutes of the game.

Iheanacho added the Foxes’ second from close range as the visitors looked to have taken control before the break, only for Villa captain Jack Grealish to whip an effort into the bottom corner on the stroke of half-time.

Jamie Vardy scored twice as Leicester City thrashed Aston Villa to make it a club-record eight Premier League wins in a row and keep alive their hopes of catching leaders Liverpool.

Brendan Rodgers’ side reduced the deficit on top spot to eight points once more with a clinical display at Villa Park, in which former England striker Vardy netted for the eighth successive match.

The hosts’ comeback was short lived, however, with Jonny Evans heading in from a corner shortly after the interval.

Vardy then dashed clear with 15 minutes remaining to slide an effort beyond Heaton and put the game out of Villa’s reach.

Leicester remain second in the top flight, but now have a six-point advantage over Manchester City after Pep Guardiola’s side were beaten by Manchester United on Saturday.

Rohr – Get me Ejiara, not Eze

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is reportedly desperate for the Nigeria Football Federation to prioritise a move for Reading’s Ovie Ejiara over Eberechi Eze.

The Reading’s on-loan midfielder who is valued at £1m has shown versatility under Mark Bowen at the Madejski Stadium and Rohr is keen to add the Liverpool player to his squad.

“He’s (Ovie Ejiara) a good player no doubt and I will prefer him in the team now than the player (Eberechi Eze) the Federation are in talks with,” Rohr revealed.

“We will contact him and know what must be done to make him play for us. He is a better player than Eze.

“My fears are if we start chasing him in the media, England may join the race and it could be difficult.”

Neither Ejiara nor Eze are seemingly not prepared to pledge their allegiance to Nigeria at the moment with the pair already members of the England U21 squad.

Eze has all but declined from playing for Nigeria after informing NFF President, Amaju Pinnick that he wants to focus solely on club football.

Pinnick met with Eze in London last month in a bid to lure the 21-year-old to switch allegiance to Nigeria but he requested for the chance to continue to focus on his club career which is going well so far, and that further progress will be made in due course.

Eze once trained with the Super Eagles before a planned international friendly with Burkina Faso was cancelled in March 2017.

He has been impressive for QPR in the English Championship this season scoring six goals and providing four assists in 18 games.

Joshua welcomes Usyk fight

Anthony Joshua insists he is ready to “rock and roll” with Oleksandr Usyk, if a WBO title defence is enforced next after his points win over Andy Ruiz Jr.

Britain’s heavyweight star regained the WBO, WBA ‘super’ and IBF titles in Saudi Arabia on Saturday night, and WBO president Paco Valcárcel was quick to tweet that mandatory challenger Usyk must receive a title shot within 180 days.

“In 180 days? Let’s rock and roll mate,” said Joshua at his post-fight press conference, when asked about Usyk.

“No problem,” he added.

“There’s an IBF mandatory, there’s a WBO mandatory,” promoter Eddie Hearn said
