A statement from the Spanish giants said Perez, 73, had returned a positive result in the club's routine tests and was currently asymptomatic.

Liverpool Make Transfer Deadline Signings

Liverpool have completed a loan deal for Schalke's Turkey central defender Ozan Kabak.

The 20-year-old joins the Reds until the end of the season, with the club also having signed Preston North End's Ben Davies for £2m.

While defender Davies, 25, has signed a “long-term deal” at Anfield.

Liverpool has an option to buy Kabak for £18m - with add-on clauses - at the end of the season, but do not need to activate it until June.

For now, they will pay a £1m loan fee now with the potential for an extra £500,000 based on games played and how they fare in the Champions League.

The Reds are missing experienced centre-backs, with Joel Matip out for the rest of the season and Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez out with long-term injuries, while midfielder Fabinho, who has been standing in at the back, is also out.

Manager Jurgen Klopp named his 12th different centre-half partnership in 21 Premier League games for Sunday’s 3-1 win against West Ham, with midfielder Jordan Henderson alongside Nathaniel Phillips.

Pierre Gasly Becomes Sixth F1 Driver To Contract Corona Virus

Frenchman Pierre Gasly has become the sixth Formula 1 driver to contract coronavirus.

The Alpha Tauri driver said he was "feeling OK and will continue to follow my training plan from home while I am in isolation".

The 24-year-old, who won last year's Italian Grand Prix, added that he had informed all his recent close contacts.

His result means that 30% of the F1 grid has tested positive for Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic.

World champion Lewis Hamilton and Racing Point drivers Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll had the disease last year and missed races as a result.

And McLaren's Lando Norris and Ferrari's Charles Leclerc caught Covid-19 during the off season.

Alongside the drivers, a number of senior figures have contracted the disease.

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff became the latest when he tested positive this month, while Racing Point team owner Lawrence Stroll, Williams team principal Simon Roberts and Red Bull sporting director Jonathan Wheatley contracted it last year.

The sport is preparing to begin the 2021 season with the Bahrain Grand Prix on 26-28 March, following the postponement of the planned opening race of the season in Australia because of travel restrictions in the country.
