World Number One Barty Stunned By Muchova In Australian Open Quarter-Finals

Karolina Muchova fought back to stun world number one Ashleigh Barty at the Australian Open and reach her maiden Grand Slam semi-final.

The Czech 25th seed struggled with dizziness in the Melbourne Park heat but refocused after a medical time-out to beat the home favourite 1-6 6-3 6-2.

Barty led by a set and a break but was unable to stop Muchova's comeback.

Muchova will play American Jennifer Brady, who beat compatriot Jessica Pegula, for a place in the final.

"It was very tough and I was a bit lost on the court and my head was spinning so I took a break," the Muchova said.

"It helped me. I tried to get back, played a bit faster rallies so we don't play the long ones as in the first set and it worked well."

US Open semi-finalist Brady beat Pegula 4-6 6-2 6-1.

Mbappe Hat-Trick Helps PSG Thump Barcelona In UCL

Kylian Mbappe scored a stunning hat-trick as Paris St-Germain ripped Barcelona apart in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at the Nou Camp.

The night did not start well for last year's runners-up when they fell behind to Lionel Messi's 27th-minute penalty.

Messi, regarded as one of the greatest players of all time, was then upstaged on his own turf by France World Cup winner Mbappe as PSG ruthlessly exposed the hosts.

Mbappe danced past Clement Lenglet and smashed in the equalizer before stroking home from 10 yards to turn the game around.

On-loan Everton striker Moise Kean continued his resurgence by heading in unchallenged at the far post to put the Ligue 1 champions in control of the tie.

With Barca looking to pull a goal back, they were caught on the counter-attack and Mbappe curled in the goal of the night with his third.

The second leg takes place on 20 March in Paris, by which time PSG hope to have Neymar back from a thigh injury to face his former side.

West Ham Up To Fifth After Comfortable Win Over Sheffield

David Moyes says it "nearly feels uneasy" talking about West Ham's place near the top of the Premier League after the Hammers beat bottom club Sheffield United.

Declan Rice's penalty, a header by Issa Diop and a third from substitute Ryan Fredericks lifted Moyes' side into the top four and a Champions League spot.

However, Chelsea's win over Newcastle in Monday's late kick-off meant West Ham finished the day fifth - above champions Liverpool.

"We've got five games before April and if we make it to there it might start hotting up," said Moyes after a sixth West Ham win in eight league games.

"But it nearly feels uneasy talking like this. The teams around us are top, top teams and we are going to have to play incredibly well to be there.

"But I think we've got another gear or two to what we've shown tonight."

Chris Basham's lunge on Jesse Lingard helped gift the Hammers victory, Rice making no mistake from the spot before Diop, who was forced off with a head injury in his previous game, doubled the lead from Aaron Cresswell's corner.

Substitute Fredericks added a third deep into stoppage time.

Sheffield United, 14 points from safety with 14 games left, went close to equalizing at 1-0 only for Lukasz Fabianski to produce an outstanding save to keep out David McGoldrick's deflected header.

Mclaren First To Unveil 2021 F1 Car

McLaren have become the first Formula 1 team to launch their new car for the 2021 season as they bid to further close the gap to the front - now with Daniel Ricciardo and Mercedes engines.

Revitalized in recent seasons, 2020's third-place constructors' finishers revealed the first glimpse of their MCL35M car in an event at their Technology Centre which also saw new star signing Ricciardo formally presented in team colours for the first time.

Ricciardo, the seven-time grand prix winner, joins Britain's Lando Norris in a formidable-looking line-up for a 23-race season which begins on March 28.

"Our goal is to close the gap to the front," said team chief executive Zak Brown in a press conference.

"We are not focused on any one particular team or who has got what power unit. We've got one target in mind and that is closing the gap to the front of the field."

Team boss Andreas Seidl added: "We want to get closer again to Mercedes and Red Bull because these steps are key to get back to the front again at some point in the future."

Although large aspects of F1's car design rules have been frozen for 2021 due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, McLaren's engineers have faced the challenge of integrating a Mercedes engine into this year's car.

The McLaren-Mercedes partnership was one of F1's most iconic and successful, winning titles with Mika Hakkinen and Lewis Hamilton, but split at the end of 2014 with the Working team subsequently being powered by Honda and Renault.
