Last Gasp Benteke Winner Stuns Brighton

Christian Benteke's 95th-minute goal gave Crystal Palace the ultimate smash-and-grab victory to beat dominant Brighton 2-1 at the Amex Stadium on Monday night.

Palace's two goals came from their only two shots on target - and touches in the Brighton box - in the whole game, with Benteke steering Andros Townsend's cross back across goal and beyond Robert Sanchez deep into second-half injury time to nick three points.

His close-range finish, his first for the club, had cancelled out Jean-Philippe Mateta's own debut goal for Palace before half-time, back-heeling Jordan Ayew's low ball past Sanchez for a wonderful opener.

But thanks to Benteke's last-minute heroics, Palace move above Southampton into 13th, with 32 points, while Brighton remain in 16th, four above the relegation zone.

Woods Hopeful Of Playing At Masters After Fifth Back Surgery

Tiger Woods "hopes" to play in the Masters at Augusta National in April after undergoing a fifth back surgery.

The 45-year-old American had a microdiscectomy to relieve a pressurized disc fragment in January.

Woods recovered from spinal fusion surgery in 2017 to win a 15th major at the 2019 Masters, but his participation in this year's event - which begins on 8 April - is in the balance.

"I'm feeling fine - I'm a little stiff," Woods told CBS Television.

"I have one more MRI scheduled so we'll see then if I can start doing more activities.

"I'm still in the gym, still doing the mundane stuff that you have to do for rehab; the little things where I can start gravitating toward something more."

Asked if he would be at Augusta National in seven weeks, Woods replied: "I hope so," before adding the results of his MRI scan would determine whether he would be able to fit in a warm-up event.

Woods last played at the PNC Championship in December, where he felt "discomfort" in his back.

He won his fifth Masters title in 2019, more than a decade after his previous victory in a major.

Ronaldo Double Fires Juventus Past Crotone

Cristiano Ronaldo scored two headers as Juventus beat bottom side Crotone to go within eight points of leaders Inter Milan.

Ronaldo turned home an Alex Sandro cross before powering a header in from Aaron Ramsey's ball, his 70th Serie A goal in just over two and a half years.

Crotone are the 78th team in Europe's top five leagues to concede a league goal to Ronaldo.

Weston McKennie scored Juve's third from close range.

Ronaldo is now Serie A's top scorer this season, with 18 - overtaking Inter Milan's Romelu Lukaku.

Up To 10, 000 Fans Could Return To Stadiums By May

Up to 10,000 fans could be back in stadiums by mid-May as part of the government's plans to move England out of lockdown.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced a four-part plan to lift the coronavirus lockdown.

Outdoor sports including football, golf and tennis will be allowed to resume in England from 29 March.

The plan to ease lockdown requires four tests on vaccines, infection rates and new coronavirus variants to be met.

"The turnstiles of our sports stadia will once again rotate," said Johnson.

In an address to the nation later on Monday, the Prime Minister stressed the roll-out of the UK's vaccination programme had allowed the government to draw up this pathway, but that final decisions would be made "on data".

Leisure centres, gyms and swimming pools can open from 12 April.

Venues such as gyms, tennis courts and golf courses have been closed across England since lockdown was announced on 4 January.

The government says it will run a series of 'pilot' events in April and the English Football League (EFL) said it would be "engaging" with the government over the potential for a small number of fans to attend the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on 25 April.
