Osun election: INEC sensitizes Muslims, Christians against vote-buying

The Independent National Electoral Commission has visited some places of worship to sensitize the people of Osun State who have not collected their permanent voter cards to do so and to tell them about the evils of vote-buying.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the State, OLUSEGUN AGBAJE, led other officials of the commission to the Winners’ Chapel and NASFAT in Osogbo to address congregants on the readiness of the electoral umpire to conduct a credible poll on September 22.

While addressing the congregation at Winners’ Chapel, AGBAJE urged the people of the state to shun any form of inducement saying anyone arrested for electoral offence during the exercise would be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.

Reacting on the move by INEC to stop vote buying, a member of the Social Democratic Party, YEMI AKINBODE believes the body is not proactive.

 

Buhari assures Nigerians to devote more time, energy to service the nation

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has assured Nigerians that he is ready to devote more of his time and energy to the service of the nation.

He gave this assurance yesterday while receiving the All Progressives Congress presidential expression of interest and nomination forms at the presidential villa purchased for him by a support group.

You will recall that the group known as the National Consolidation Ambassadors Network had purchased the form for the president last week while he was in China for official engagement.

National Coordinator of the group, SANUSI MUSA had explained that the group’s decision to by the form for the president is in appreciation of his achievements since he assumed office.

President BUHARI thanked the group for believing in him.

National Leader, Not Too Young Run Movement, Hamzat Lawal condemns high cost of nomination forms

The National Leader of the “Not Too Young to Run” Movement, HAMZAT LAWAL has condemned the high cost of nomination and expression of interest forms by political parties.

HAMZAT who was speaking on a television programme said the high cost will make youths and qualified politicians shelve their ambitions.

He said the group will continue to press for a reduction in the price of the forms to enable more young people engage in the political process.

Tinubu, 57 council chairman endorse Jide Sanwoolu as governorship candidate of APC

There is a relative calm in the camp of the Lagos state Governor AKINWUNMI AMBODE as a group loyal to the national leader of APC, BOLA TINUBU and all 57 council Chairmen in the state have endorsed former commissioner for Establishment, JIDE SANWOOLU as governorship candidate of the party.

The endorsement came barely forty eight four hours after Governor AMBODE picked his expression of interest and nomination forms at the party’s secretariat in Abuja.

On his return to Lagos after collecting the forms, AMBODE was received by crowd of supporters at the state house, Alausa where he officially declared his intention to run for second term in office.

However at a forum of the leadership of the party, former Commissioner for Agriculture and Cooperatives, KAOLI OLUSANYA said they are throwing their weight behind the choice of their leader, BOLA TINUBU.

Former state Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, KADRI HAMZAT have also picked the APC expression of interest and nomination forms to contest for the party’s Gubernatorial ticket.
