BREAKING: FEDERAL HIGH COURT GRANTS AYO FAYOSE BAIL

The Federal High Court has granted embattled former governor of Ekiti state, AYO FAYOSE, bail to the tune of 50 million Naira.

The former governor is on trial for money laundering and abuse of office.

Presiding judge, MORENIKEJI OLATOREGUN, granted the a few hours ago, adding that he must provide two sureties who must issue a 50 million Naira bond in a reputable bank, as well as possess three years’ tax clearance.

She also directed that the former governor must deposit his international passport with the court.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC had on Monday arraigned FAYOSE on 11 counts of alleged money laundering, amounting to 2.2 billion Naira.

The trial has now been adjourned till November 19.

AMBODE addressed reporters at the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport shortly after he accompanied President BUHARI to perform the official commissioning of the new Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Seme-Krake joint border post in Badagry yesterday.

The Governor said it is important for the APC to retain its leadership positions both at the federal and state levels.

The Director General of the Voice of Nigeria, OSITA OKECHUKWU, has accused the National Chairman of the All Progressives, ADAMS OSHIOMHOLE, of promoting “impunity” in the party and circumventing due process in APC primary election.

OKECHUKWU, speaking on a monitored programme in Abuja also accused the national chairman of flouting the federal character principle in constituting the various panels which handled the primaries as well as appeals emanating from them.

The Enugu West Senatorial district aspirant said it is not true that 90 per cent of the party members were behind OSHIOMHOLE, and called on him to toe the honourable path and resign.

But BABATUNDE OGALA, the National Legal Adviser of the APC said OKECHUKWU sounds like someone that has a personal axe to grind with ADAMS OSHIOMHOLE.

NEW MINIMUM WAGE MEETING AGAIN ENDS IN DEADLOCK AS LABOUR BEGINS NATIONWIDE STRIKE

The tripartite committee meeting has once again failed to reach a consensus over the new minimum wage.

Members of the committee include labour leaders, the organized private sector and the federal government team.

Present at the meeting were the NLC President Ayuba Wabba, the Budget and National Planning Minister, Udo Udoma; while the United Labour Congress was represented by Igwe Achese.

Chairman of the committee, Ms. Ama Pepple says both the 30,000 naira stance of the organized labour and the 24,000 naira proposed by the federal government would be submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari for onward submission to the National Assembly.

However, the organized labour has begun their nationwide strike over the new national minimum wage in accordance the directive of the three labour centres, that’s the NLC, TUC and ULC.
