Shettima condoles family of aid worker, Hauwa Liman, killed by Boko Haram

Governor KASHIM SHETTIMA of Borno state has in the meantime led a delegation to condole the family of Late Miss HAUWA LIMAN who was executed by Boko Haram insurgents on Monday.

The late LIMAN was killed by her captors following the expiration of the deadline issued by the terrorists to ICRC and the Nigerian government.

Governor SHETTIMA, who described her death as devastating, offered a special prayer for the peaceful repose of her soul.
He said the late humanitarian worker sacrificed her life while serving humanity and assured that the government will keep in touch with her family.

HAUWA’S father, MOHAMMED LIMAN lamented the death of his daughter and admitted that the insurgent group demanded ransom.

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has condoled with MOHAMMED LIMAN, father of HAUWA LIMAN, the International Committee of the Red Cross midwife who was slain by Boko Haram terrorists.

President BUHARI’s spokesman, GARBA SHEHU in a statement said the president in a telephone call, commiserated with the family and assured Miss LIMAN’s father that the federal government did everything possible to save his daughter’s life, expressing sadness that all the efforts turned out unsuccessful.

The President regretted that HAUWA’s commitment to helping victims of the Boko Haram insurgency ended in such a brutal way.

President BUHARI appealed to the ICRC to continue their services in Nigeria, and not give up, despite the unfortunate and painful loss of their staff.

Senate Approves N53bn For Security Agencies Towards Conduct Of 2019 Elections

The Senate has approved 53, billion Naira for the Office of the National Security Adviser and security agencies to supervise the 2019 general elections.

Other beneficiaries are the Department of State Services, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigerian Immigration Service.

The approval followed the recommendation by the Senate Committee on Appropriations’ report on the budget which was adopted at the plenary yesterday.

Fayemi sworn in as Ekiti gov, vows to probe Fayose

KAYODE FAYEMI has been sworn in as governor of Ekiti State and has vowed to probe the administration of his predecessor, AYO FAYOSE.

FAYEMI, the immediate past Minister of Mines and Steel Development, said his second coming was not for vengeance, but to bring the culture of prudence and financial propriety to bear in the governance of the state.

He said the past government took 170 billion Naira loans for projects, noting however that this would not stop his administration from delivering dividends of democracy to the citizens.

He said Ekiti under him would not degenerate to the level of allowing school children to pay taxes in their quests to receive formal education.
