Aid worker’s killing inhuman, ungodly – FG

The Federal Government has condemned the killing, describing it as dastardly, inhuman and ungodly.

In a statement issued in London, the Minister of Information and Culture, LAI MOHAMMED, said the government is shocked and saddened at the killing of the aid worker by the insurgents, despite the actions taken by the government and the widespread appeal to save the young woman.

Mr. MOHAMMED explained that since the young women were abducted, the federal government kept the line of negotiations opens all through and it acted in the best interest of the women and the country as a whole.

The minister commiserated with the family of the slain aid worker, saying the government did all within its powers to save her life.

Melaye alleges threat to life, petitions UN, Buhari

The lawmaker representing the Kogi West Senatorial District, Senator DINO MELAYE, has petitioned President BUHARI alleging that the Nigeria Police are threatening his life.

MELAYE, in the petition dated October 13, 2018, and addressed to the President chronicled his battles with the men of the Nigeria Police both in Abuja and Kogi.

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Amnesty International, European Union, United States Embassy, British High Commission, United Nations, Canadian Embassy, German Embassy, Economic Community of West African States and the African Union were copied.

He urged BUHARI to order the Inspector-General of Police, IBRAHIM IDRIS, to restore his police details withdrawn since April, in order to guarantee his security especially as electioneering had begun ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Presidency has ordered EFCC to detain Fayose indefinitely, PDP alleges

The Peoples Democratic Party has alleged that the Presidency has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to incarcerate the outgoing governor of Ekiti State, AYODELE FAYOSE, indefinitely.

National Publicity Secretary of the Party, KOLA OLOGBONDIYAN, in a statement said that the information at the party’s disposal and all over the social media indicated that the Presidency had` put the commission on alert to arrest the governor midnight on Monday and detain him indefinitely.

FAYOSE whose tenure ends today, October the 16th,is under investigation by the anti-graft agency for alleged money laundering and abuse of office.

The outgoing governor, at a banquet organized in his honour in Abuja over the weekend said he will be handing himself over to the EFCC for questioning by 1pm today.

FAYOSE will answer to allegations that he received about N1.3bn from the Office of the National Security Adviser through the then Minister of State for Defence, Senator MUSILIU OBANIKORO.

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has condoled with MOHAMMED LIMAN, father of HAUWA LIMAN, the International Committee of the Red Cross midwife who was slain by Boko Haram terrorists.

President BUHARI’s spokesman, GARBA SHEHU in a statement said the president in a telephone call, commiserated with the family and assured Miss LIMAN’s father that the federal government did everything possible to save his daughter’s life, expressing sadness that all the efforts turned out unsuccessful.

The President regretted that HAUWA’s commitment to helping victims of the Boko Haram insurgency ended in such a brutal way.

President BUHARI appealed to the ICRC to continue their services in Nigeria, and not give up, despite the unfortunate and painful loss of their staff.
