PRESIDENCY WADES IN ON POLICE INVITATION TO SENATOR ADEMOLA ADELEKE OVER ALLEDGED EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris to stop the invitation of Senator Ademola Adeleke, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Osun state governorship election, to answer charges bordering on examination malpractice.

Sources in the presidency told reporters that President Buhari had ordered the IGP not to go ahead with the invitation of the senator.

There is no official statement yet on the purported presidential order.

The police yesterday summoned Senator Adeleke and four other persons to appear before it immediately for arraignment over allegations of aiding and abetting, impersonation and criminal conspiracy in the alleged examination malpractice.

The Principal of Ojo-Aro Community High School in Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State and three others are also to be arraigned for what the police describes as conspiracy with the senator.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, investigations have shown that Senator Adeleke and his brother, Sikiru Adeleke registered for the National Examination Council exam in July 2017 as an internal candidate impersonating students of the school at the ages of 57 and 42 years respectively.

WAEC CONFIRMS SENATOR ADELEKE’S CERTIFICATE, SCORED F9 IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE

The West African Examination Council said the PDP candidate in the Osun state governorship election, Ademola Adeleke sat for its examination in 1981.

The council confirmed Adeleke’s participation in an affidavit deposed at an Abuja High Court in Bwari.

In the result attached to the document filed by WAEC, Adeleke was listed as number 149 out of the 221 candidates that sat for the maiden 1981 examinations of the council at Ede Muslim High School in Ede, Osun state.

The results showed that he sat for only English Language in which he had F9.

He did not sit for other registered subjects which included Mathematics, Literature in English, Islamic Knowledge and Geography.

The court had earlier asked WAEC to produce Adeleke’s results before Saturday’s election.

The Minister of state for Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed will now officially oversee the ministry of finance after Mrs Kemi Adeosun resigned from the position last week.

Mrs Ahmed will no longer work as minister of state for budget and national planning, and will now be addressed with a new portfolio.

Her appointment was announced at the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Mrs Ahmed was asked to supervise operations ion the finance ministry shortly after Mrs Kemi Adeosun resigned.

Osun guber: President Buhari orders IGP Ibrahim Idris to suspend Senator Adeleke’s invitation until after election

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI issued a directive to the IG of Police, IBRAHIM IDRIS, to stop the invitation to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the governorship election slated for Saturday in Osun State, Senator ADEMOLA ADELEKE.

The police had earlier invited ADELEKE to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for the purpose of arraigning him on charges of examination malpractices, criminal conspiracy, impersonation, breach of duty and aiding and abetting.

A presidential source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not permitted to speak on the matter, told some State House correspondents that the President had directed that ADELEKE should not be invited until after Saturday’s election.

Force Spokesman, JIMOH MOSHOOD, had told newsmen in Abuja that Senator ADELEKE and four others have been summoned to report to the Special Investigation Panel, Force Headquarters, Abuja, immediately for arraignment in court.
