INEC BANS MOBILE PHONES, CAMERAS, RECORDING DEVICES AT OSUN GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION

<strong>the Independent National Electoral Commission, has banned the use of mobile phones, cameras or any recording devices by voters during the Osun State governorship election.</strong>

<strong> </strong>

<strong>INEC Chairman, Professor MAHMOOD YAKUBU, disclosed this at a stakeholders meeting in Osogbo, the Osun state capital ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.</strong>

<strong> </strong>

<strong>He said the ban will help reduce the risk of vote buying and selling which he described as a norm amongst politicians.</strong>

<strong> </strong>

<strong>The INEC boss explained that voters will not be prevented from using their devices at the polling units, but would be banned from holding their cameras and telephones, once the ballot papers are issued and until they cast their votes in the ballot boxes.</strong>

All Progressives Congress led by President Muhammadu Buhari turned out in large numbers to drum support for the candidate of the party, Gboyega Oyetola ahead of the Saturday governorship poll.

While addressing the gathering, President Buhari assured that his administration will complete all ongoing projects across the country.

He said the development in Osun state in the last seven years under the ruling party justifies the need for continuity for the benefit of the people.

President Buhari said never again should Nigerians allow the PDP to return to the seat of power in Abuja.

On his part, APC national leader, Bola Tinubu said the party is proud of the infrastructural renewal in Osun state.

The national chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomole advised the people of Osun not to toy with their votes saying governance is not meant for the beginners.

NYSC WARNS POLITICIANS AGAINST ATTACK ON CORPS MEMBERS DURING OSUN GUBER ELECTION

The National Youth Service Corps has warned politicians and their supporters, against attacking corps members, that will participate in the September 22 governorship election in Osun State.

The warning is coming just as the Committee for the Protection of Peoples Mandate, also declared support for INEC against vote buying, during the Governorship poll.

While speaking in Ede at the closing ceremony of the orientation course for 2018 Batch B corps members, NYSC Coordinator in Osun State, Emmanuel Attah said government places much value on the lives and wellbeing of all corps members.

According to him, the NYSC would not allow anybody, who attacks any of the youths to go without facing the full wrath of the law.

Some of the leading Governorship candidates at the poll include; Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress, Moshood Adeoti, of the Action Democratic Party, Iyiola Omisore of the Social Democratic Party candidate and Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party.

EKITI STATE GOVERNOR, AYO FAYOSE SAYS EFCC HATES HIM

Ekiti state Governor, Ayo Fayose, has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of hatred towards him and insisted that he would not appear before its officials for questioning before October 16.

Fayose’s tenure will expire on October 15.

The outgoing governor had earlier written to the commission that he would be available to answer questions from the operatives of the commission on the said date.

However, the commission in its reply told the governor to make himself available on Thursday, September 20, 2018.

But Fayose, in his reply on Tuesday cited the danger of violating Section 308 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) which vested immunity on him as a sitting governor.
