“I want the projects commissioned in other to silence some people who are deceiving themselves that I did not perform,” he said.

According to him, in politics one should always expect to get attacks from opponent even when there is nothing negative to talk about.

“They will still castigate you in order to portray you in bad light.

“I cannot be distracted by baseless attacks. I will remain focus and committed to the cause which I believed in,” he said.

Ortom said he was also working on plans to privatize all the state owned industries, because government has no business running them.

The governor said government has no business owning industries, emphasizing that it was the function of the private sector to drive the economy and not government.

Swahili Can Unite Africa, Uganda’s President Museveni Says

Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni is calling on Africans to speak Swahili as the language will aid in unifying the continent.

In a speech on African Integration Day, which marks progress in bringing the continent together, the long-serving Ugandan leader described Swahili as a “neutral language to unite us, it is non-ethnic, belongs to nobody”.

During the speech he lamented that Africans were not more unified.

“It is easier for Africans to unite than the Europeans, but we are not taking that direction surprisingly,” he said in a tweet summarizing his comments.

As a non-European language, Swahili has often been spoken about as an alternative to English, French or Portuguese as a means for cross-continental communication. But the idea has been slow to become reality.
