England Defender, Harry Maguire’s Father Suffers Suspected Broken Ribs In Euro 2020 Final

Harry Maguire says his father was left with suspected broken ribs by ticketless fans who breached security at Wembley at the Euro 2020 final.

The England defender's dad was caught up in the chaotic scenes inside the stadium on Sunday night and left struggling to breathe.

Maguire described what happened as "scary" and says his family will be "more aware" when attending games in future.

On Tuesday, UEFA opened a disciplinary investigation into the incidents at the Euro 2020 final at Wembley.

Football Association chief executive Mark Bullingham said on Monday that a full review would take place into what had happened.

The FA was charged by UEFA on four counts arising from the mayhem. Disciplinary proceedings were opened over a pitch invasion, throwing of objects, booing the Italian national anthem and the lighting of a firework.

Maguire hopes what happened on Sunday night does not affect England's chances of hosting a future World Cup.

Buhari Set To Represent Lauretta As PDP, Senator Differ Over Rejection

Despite the Senate's rejection of the nomination of LAURETTA ONOCHIE as INEC Commissioner, the Presidency has reaffirmed its confidence in her.

A Presidency source said the fact that the President who made the nomination — had not chosen to withdraw it shows that he still has faith in the process and ONOCHIE's candidature is viable.

ONOCHIE's nomination attracted public outcry because of her open partisanship and the fact that her appointment would have amounted to a breach of the federal character principle.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Independent National Electoral Commission, Senator KABIRU GAYA (APC, had disclosed that the petitions against the Presidential aide were against the backdrop of her involvement in politics and alleged membership of a political party.

But she was however rejected based on the principle of Federal Character since Delta state where she was nominated from already had a representative as INEC National Commissioner.

Ms. LAURETTA ONOCHIE, during her screening before the committee last week said she is not a registered member of any political party in the country.

According to her, she seized to be a member of the APC when President BUHARI was re-elected into office in 2019.

TUC Criticizes FG Over The Rising Cost Of Living In The Country

The Trade Union Congress has criticized the Federal Government over the rising cost of living in the country, saying this has eroded the benefits of the National Minimum Wage, which some states have yet to implement.

The congress, while admonishing government to 'avoid mortgaging the future of Nigeria' also frowned at the level of external borrowings, advising the government to harness the country's natural endowments.

National Treasurer of TUC, MOHAMMAD YUNUSA, stated this in an interview with journalists in Abuja, shortly after the Central Working Committee meeting on Saturday.

YUNUSA also noted that members of the association condemned in strong terms the spate of kidnappings and the unbridled abductions of school children, students in tertiary institutions and travelers on Nigerian roads.

Reading the communique, he jointly signed with General Secretary, AYO OLORUNFEMI, the labor leader called on the government to look for ways of improving the general welfare of the citizens and Nigerian workers.

He explained that this could be achieved through increased economic diversification, enhanced productivity and attraction of direct foreign investments into the country.
