PDP Disqualifies Oladipo, Two Other Aspirants Ahead Of National Convention

 

The Screening Sub-Committee of the People’s Democratic Party has disqualified three aspirants from vying for positions in the National Working Committee.

Those disqualified include: Prof. Wale Oladipo (Osun) who expressed interest in the position of Deputy National Chairman South, Okey Muo-Aroh (Anambra) who expressed interest in the position of National Secretary, and Dr. Olafeso Eddy (Ondo) National Publicity Secretary.

The Chairman of the National Convention Organizing Committee, Governor Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, announced this during the official Media Launch of the 2021 National Convention Logo and Promotional Materials, at the PDP National Secretariat, Abuja.

The governor said the aspirants were disqualified for taking the party to court to stop the convention.

He announced that 27 other aspirants were cleared to contest at the convention while one withdrew from the race.

The Chairman of the PDP governor’s forum Aminu Tambuwal said that the planned convention will make the party stronger and more united.

President Buhari Orders Service Chiefs To Ensure Nothing Stop Anambra Guber Election From Holding

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the military top-shots to ensure that nothing is allowed to stop the November 6 Anambra governorship election from holding.

The president said this when he presided over a meeting with the service chiefs at the presidential villa in Abuja.

The meeting was attended by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the government of the federation, Boss Mustapha, minister of defense, Bashir Magashi, and chief of defense staff, Lucky Irabor among others.

National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno said President Buhari gave the order in response to the heightened security challenges in Anambra.

Monguno and the Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Dingyadi, spoke to newsmen after the meeting.

Monguno also said another leader of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP), Malam Bako, has been killed.

According to him, Bako was killed two days ago.

30 Students Abducted From Kebbi School Regain Freedom After Four Months

 

 

Thirty students abducted from the Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri in Kebbi State have regained freedom.

This comes four months after bandits stormed the school and kidnapped an unspecified number of students and four teachers in June.

Mr. Yahaya Sarki, who is the Special Adviser on Media to Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi, confirmed the release of the students in a statement.

He said efforts are still continuing to secure the release of the remaining students.
