President Buhari Cancels Official Visit To Zamfara

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday postponed his visit to Zamfara State.

Zamfara State governor, Bello Mattawale, said the development was occasioned by poor weather conditions that affected his flight to the State.

Matawalle said a new date for the President’s visit to the state would be announced later.

The President was scheduled to visit Zamfara state on a condolence visit over the recent killings in Anka and Bukkuyum local government areas of the State.

He later apologized to the people of Zamfara over his failure to visit the state.

COVID-19: UAE Lifts Restrictions On Flights From Nigeria

The UAE authorities said entry will be allowed into the country again from Saturday, January 29, 2022.

The United Arab Emirates authorities have lifted the travel restrictions placed on inbound flights from Nigeria and 11 other countries.

The UAE had placed the ban on Nigeria and other countries to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and the new variant, Omicron.

Other countries affected by the ban were Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Republic of Congo, South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

The UAE authorities said entry will be allowed into the country again from Saturday, January 29, 2022.

The UAE’s National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority (NCEMA) announced the development in a Twitter post on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.

The tweet reads: “From January 29, entry into the UAE for arrivals from Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Nigeria, the Republic of the Congo, the Republic of South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe is allowed again.”

The country added that entry procedures have been updated for flights originating from Ghana, Rwanda and Uganda.

It was pure drama and high stake tension as Bisi Kolawole emerged as the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the June 18 governorship election in Ekiti state.

Kolawole, a former chairman of the PDP in Ekiti, floored ex-Governor Segun Oni and Kolapo Olusola, a former deputy governor of the state.

The primary election took place in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday.

Kolawole had resigned his position as Ekiti PDP chairman to contest the governorship election.

He was the preferred aspirant of former governor of the state Ayodele Fayose.

On a monitored interview, one of the aspirants, Senator Abiodun Olujimi said she quit because of gender bias and an unfair resolution of matters arising from a lingering controversial congress of the party.

As more political aspirants throw their hats into the ring for the 2023 presidential elections, the last may not have been heard of the Presidential declaration of Bola Tinubu following a statement by the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (that its members who endorsed Tinubu spoke for themselves.

During a recent meeting, Ya’u Haruna, a former chairman of the Jigawa chapter of Macban, had said the welfare of members of the association will improve with Tinubu as president in 2023.

Reacting to the development, Miyetti Allah national secretary, Baba Ngelzarma said the association has not endorsed any presidential aspirant.
