Family Of Cousin Of Former President Jonathan Begs Kidnappers To Release Brother

Family members of Mr. Jephthah Robert Yekorogha, the abducted cousin to former President Goodluck Jonathan, have made a passionate appeal to the kidnappers to release their brother unconditionally.

Yekorogha was kidnapped Monday in front of his house in Yenagoa, the state capital while returning home.

His younger brother, Aziboala Robert, in a statement, said the case was receiving utmost attention from the security agencies.

He said, “Our elder brother, Mr. Jephthah Robert Yekorogha, was kidnapped at about 8:40pm on Monday, 24th January 2022, in front of his house gate at Biogbolo, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, by four gunmen in black uniform, who, at gunpoint, seized him in his car and forced him into their vehicle and zoomed off.

Spokesman of the Bayelsa State Command, SP Asinim Butswat, said security agents were working to rescue the abductee unhurt.

House Of Reps Ask IGP To Probe Activities Of Armed Militia In Ebonyi

The House of Representatives has urged the Inspector General of Police to investigate the activities of armed militia in Ebonyi State as well as expressed grave concern over the activities of armed militia in Ebonyi State.

The lawmakers expressed concern during the debate on a motion of urgent public importance on the ‘Urgent need to stop the deteriorating security situation in Ebonyi State,’ sponsored by Igariwey Enwo Iduma (PDP, Ebonyi.

In his lead debate, Igariwey who alleged that the armed militia was set up by the State government, observed that the group is unleashing terror on citizens.

While expressing displeasure over the prevailing security situation in the state, the lawmaker argued that things have taken a turn for the worse since the introduction of the armed militia called ‘Ebubeagu’.

Reps Ask CBN To Suspend Planned Implementation Of E-Invoice Policy

The house of representatives has asked the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to suspend the planned implementation of an electronic invoice (e-invoice) for all import and export operations.

The lawmakers also asked the CBN to give 90 days’ timeline for subsequent new fiscal/monetary policy implementation to “allow for adjustment to stabilize the economy”.

The lower legislative chamber passed the resolution during the plenary session on Thursday following the adoption of a motion sponsored by Leke Abjide, a lawmaker from Kogi state.

An e-invoice is a digitally-delivered invoice issued, transmitted, received, processed, and stored in a specific standardised format.

Last week, the apex bank had said e-valuator and e-invoice would replace the hard copy final invoice as part of the documentation required for all impoert and export transactions from February 1.
