PDP Tells FG To Name Sponsors Of Terrorism

The People’s Democratic Party has challenged the federal government to name the sponsors of terrorism in the country if they have found them.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Dele Ologunagba, in a statement said it was unfortunate that the APC could still be playing games with the identities of terror sponsors despite the fact that thousands were being killed under Buhari’s watch.

The PDP Spokesman noted that over 10, 398 Nigerians were killed in 2021 alone, wondering why government are still talking about plans to reveal terror sponsors.

FG Identifies 96 Sponsors Of Terror Groups

The federal government has revealed that it has arrested 45 individuals suspected to be financing and or supporting terrorism in the country.

According to Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, the arrested suspects would soon face prosecution and seizure of assets.

The minister disclosed this at a press conference in Abuja, noting that the fight against terrorism was boosted by the efforts of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) who had been investigating the activities of terrorist financiers since 2020.

Speaking to Inspiration FM, a security analyst, Onyekachi Adekoya said the NFIU report is neither here nor there.

Earn Legitimate Income Through Whistleblowing Policy, EFCC Boss Urges Youths

The Executive Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, has appealed to the youths and general public to embrace the Whistleblowing Policy of the Federal Government in exposing economic and financial crimes.

Bawa made this appeal on Wednesday when he met with a group of social media influencers under the aegis of the Mofeto Miracle Shurch in Abuja.

In a statement titled, ‘EFCC Boss Meets Leaders of Mofeto Miracle Shurch, Tasks Nigerians on Whistleblowing’ and posted on EFCC Facebook page, Bawa assured that the policy was still in force and closely monitored by the anti-graft agency.

He added that whistleblowers have the opportunity for legitimate earning by exposing economic and financial crimes that lead to financial recovery.

The EFCC chairman encouraged whistleblowers to make use of the EFCC reporting app, Eagle Eye, which could be downloaded from Google Play Store or App Store, to report economic and financial crimes cases.

Led by author and human rights activist, Richard Akinola, the group said they have followed closely the performance of the Bawa-led EFCC and have come to the realization that concerted efforts are needed in the corruption fight.

They promised to partner with the commission in the fight against economic and financial crimes.

Lagos To Shutdown Marina Roads On Friday For Shonekan’s Burial

The Lagos State Government has announced a 12- hour traffic diversion around the Inner and outer Marina by the Oando Filling Station due to the burial service of the Late former Head of Interim Government, Chief Ernest Shonekan.

The diversion will begin from 5.00am till 6.00pm on Friday, 4th February, 2022.

Commissioner for Transportation, Dr. Frederic Oladeinde who disclosed this in a statement, said all adjoining and feeder roads leading to Inner Marina road from NITEL building would be cordoned off.

He advised motorists to utilise JK Randle Street, through Force Road, to connect Broad Street and continue their journey as Inner Marina road/Odunlami Street from Outer Marina road will be shut down to vehicular movement.

Oladeinde further explained that motorists descending CMS Bridge to Cathedral Church would be temporarily diverted to UBA roundabout or Apongbon for onward navigation to other inner parts of Lagos Island to connect their destinations.

The Commissioner assured that security and law enforcement agencies would be deployed to all strategic junctions/intersections and black spots to reduce delays and ensure security of lives and property both along the routes leading to the venue and alternative routes highlighted.
