Interior Minister, Aregbesola Alleges Attempt on Life as Rift Worsens with Tinubu, Oyetola

Minister of Interior, RAUF AREGBESOLA, has insinuated that Osun State governor GBOYEGA OYETOLA was after his life following the ongoing political standoff between the duo.

On Thursday, AREGBESOLA in a statement by his spokesman SOLA FASURE wrote that difference in democratic choices does not “deserve the murder of any Nigerian, talk-less of a serving minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

The minister condemned an attack on his convoy in Osogbo earlier in the week, which he alleged was perpetrated by persons hired by the OYETOLA government after a smear campaign aimed at him failed.

The fallout between Mr AREGBESOLA and the duo of APC national leader BOLA TINUBU and Mr OYETOLA continues to spark heat waves in Osun state ahead of the party’s primary scheduled to hold on Saturday.

Labour To Embark on Strike Over Prolonged Fuel Scarcity

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have vowed to embark on strike over the prolonged fuel scarcity in many parts of the country.

TUC National President, QUADRI OLALEYE, made this known during a press briefing in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

OLALEYE stated that the union is currently observing the fuel scarcity and has started discussing with other stakeholders on the prolonged queues in petrol stations.

The TUC President, however, said that the union might be forced to take protest or embark on strike if the situation continues for so long.

House Of Representatives Demands Body Cameras For Security Agents To Check Allegations Of Extortion, Harassment

The House of Representatives has called for provision of body-worn cameras for police, customs officers and other security agents.

Adopting a motion by CHINEDU EMEKA MARTINS, the House said the cameras would ensure security of operatives and citizens.

MARTINS had cited allegations of harassment, extortion and extra-judicial killings of citizens by security operatives.

He said body cameras would keep the security operatives in check, considering the massive allegations of human rights violation against them and lack of evidence to indict them.

The House therefore mandated its Committees on Police Affairs, Army and National Security and Intelligence to ensure compliance.

In another vein, the lawmakers called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to urgently deploy physical enumerators and other assistance to conduct new voter registration across all federal constituencies.

This followed a motion by ABUBAKAR YALLEMAN.

INEC had put in place a machinery for a virtual continuous voters registration, but the online process does not seem satisfactory to the lawmakers.
