Eid-El-Maulud: Tinubu Charges Citizens On Patriotism, Patience, Prayers

President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to support the government’s efforts at piloting the nation through the current challenges by being patriotic, patient and offering prayers.

President Tinubu made the call in his Eid-el-Maulud message to Nigerians, assuring that the chances are bright for the country as the current bleak winds up.

This was made known in a statement issued by his special adviser on media and publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.

He said the president also urged religious leaders to use the period to pray for the country and to admonish their followers to take the appropriate lessons from Prophet Muhammad’s life in their commitment to the country.

The president, thereafter congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and beyond on this year’s Maulud celebration, charging them to live by the teachings of Prophet Muhammad.

The Federal Government has declared tomorrow, Wednesday, 27th September 2023, as a public holiday to mark the solemn event.

FG Set To Reveal CBN Investigation Report, Promises Accountability

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, has said that the Federal Government will soon unveil the audit report of probe of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

President Bola Tinubu had on July 28, 2023, named a former Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, Jim Obazee, as the Special Investigator for the CBN.

The President asked the Special Investigator to probe the CBN and key Government Business Entities, adding that the investigator would report directly 3to the President’s Office.

However, the SGF said that the probe report of the CBN, when made public, would reveal how poor governance brought the country to the present predicament.

Akume made the disclosure while fielding questions at a press conference in Abuja on the 63rd Independence anniversary of Nigeria.

Organized Labour Declares Indefinite Strike From Third Of October

The leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, have resolved to commence an indefinite strike on Tuesday, October 3rd.

This followed a joint press briefing held by both leadership of the union in Abuja, the nation’s capital today.

The unions also asked their state chapters to mobilize for protests across the country.

It was gathered that leaders of the two labour centres have resolved their differences that made only NLC embark on a two-day warning strike without the participation of TUC.

TUC President, Festus Osifo read the communique after the meeting.

Senate Screens Acting CBN Governor, Dr. Yemi Cardoso, Four Deputy Governors

The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Yemi Cardoso as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor and four others as deputy governors of the apex bank.

They were confirmed following a screening by the upper legislative body.

The deputy governors who were confirmed are Emem Usoro, Muhammad Dattijo, Philip Ikeazor, and Bala Bello.

Before their confirmation, the nominees had answered questions on matters related to economic and other policies.

During the screening, Cardoso promised to embrace compliance, assuring that under his leadership, the apex bank would remain apolitical.

However, in the course of the screening, a point of order was raised by Senator Agom Jarigbe.

On September 15, President Bola Tinubu nominated Olayemi Cardoso as the new CBN Governor, pending his confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.
