Code Of Conduct Bureau Invites Nigerian Minister, Tunji-Ojo Over Alleged N438million Contract Fraud

The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) has invited the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo over the award of a 438 million-naira contract to a company linked to him by the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu.

A leaked memo showed that the firm traced to Tunji-Ojo received 438 million naira as payment for ‘consultancy fees’ from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

But the Interior Minister denies involvement in the contract, insisting that he was no longer involved in the company's running after resigning as its director in 2019.

Despite the denial, the CCB, in an invitation dated January 10, has asked Tunji-Ojo to appear today, January 16, for interrogation over the contract scandal.

The invitation letter was signed by Gwimi S.P., who heads CCB’s department of intelligence, investigation, and monitoring.

This was made known in a statement signed by the Head of CCB’s Press and Public Relations, Kato Veronica.

Last week, President Bola Tinubu summoned the Interior Minister in respect of the allegation.

Group Urges Tinubu To Stop Resurgence Of Kidnapping, Banditry

Abuja-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), the Muslim Media Watch Group of Nigeria (MMWG), has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently address the resurgence and abduction of citizens for ransom by criminals operating across the country.

They were reacting to the recent incident that affected Mansur Al-Kadriyyah in Abuja, where a whole family was abducted.

The group maintained that it is mind-boggling that the eldest daughter of the family, a 400-level student of a Nigerian university, Nabeeha, was killed over the weekend, leaving the five victims in terrible danger of extermination by the kidnappers.

In a statement issued in Abuja and signed by its National Coordinator, Malam Ibrahim Abdullahi, MMWG called for an immediate crackdown on the criminals.

The Chairman of Bwari Local Council Area in the FCT, John Gbaya, has called on authorities to be more intentional about addressing the issue of insecurity.

Also reacting to the development, callers on our Breakfast Talk show, The Big Story, expressed great displeasure.

I Informed Atiku Before, After Meeting With Tinubu – Bwala

Daniel Bwala, former spokesman for the 2023 presidential campaign of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has said he informed his former principal, Atiku Abubakar, of his meeting with President Bola Tinubu.

Bwala’s visit to the president last week elicited criticism, especially because he extolled the virtues of President Bola Tinubu, whom he had sharply criticized in the recent past.

But speaking on a monitored program, Bwala insisted that he had not betrayed Atiku or his party by switching to endorse the president.
