Invoke ‘DOCTRINE OF NECESSITY’ to resolve Ondo crisis, Clark tells Tinubu

Elder statesman and South-South leader, Edwin Clark, has asked President Bola Tinubu to invoke the “Doctrine of Necessity” to resolve the leadership crisis rocking Ondo State.

The South-West state has been battling a political crisis for months after Governor Rotimi Akeredolu returned to Nigeria from his medical trip, and since his arrival, he has been in Ibadan, Oyo State, from where he carries out his duty.

His absence has thrown the state into a political quagmire as many question his state of health.

But to resolve the impasse, Chief Clark in a letter to the Nigerian leader, asked him to deploy the same solution used at the national level when former President Musa Yar’adua was away for treatment.

Chief Clark urged the President to work with all parties to ensure that the ailing Governor of the State, Rotimi Akeredolu remains in office, while the Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, retaining his position, should preside over the executive.
