I Informed Atiku Before, After Meeting With Tinubu – Bwala

Daniel Bwala, former spokesman for the 2023 presidential campaign of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has said he informed his former principal, Atiku Abubakar, of his meeting with President Bola Tinubu.

Bwala’s visit to the president last week elicited criticism, especially because he extolled the virtues of President Bola Tinubu, whom he had sharply criticized in the recent past.

But speaking on a monitored program, Bwala insisted that he had not betrayed Atiku or his party by switching to endorse the president.

Pantami Calls Out Security Agencies For Inaction On Nin-Sim Policy In The Battle Against Insecurity

Former Minister of Communication and Digital Economy Isa Pantami has accused the Nigerian Police Force and other security agencies of refusing to use the NIN-SIM policy to fight insecurity in the country.

Pantami stated this while responding to a question from an X user who wondered why so much money was spent on the policy, yet insecurity remained unabated.

The former minister said the application of the policy has been a major problem.

This was after the former minister disclosed that a friend of his had offered to pay N50 million of the N60 million ransom demanded by bandits who abducted Alhaji Mansoor Al-Kadriyar’s six children.

Reacting to the development on our breakfast talk show, The Big Story, Security Analyst Tunji Olanrewaju said the situation is heartbreaking.

He, however, condemned the approach of crowdfunding for ransom payment.

Betta Edu: No Sacred Cow, Says Presidency

The presidency has assured President Bola Tinubu that he will leave no stone unturned in the ongoing investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC, on the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs activities.

This is coming on the heels of the establishment of a special panel to investigate social investment programmes following the suspension of the four programmes under the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA).

The Special Presidential Panel is tasked with immediately undertaking a comprehensive review and audit of the social investment programmes' existing financial frameworks and policy guidelines.

In an interview, presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale said that while that is ongoing, the probe by the EFCC will not spare anyone found guilty in the various investigations.

Atiku Condemns Killing Of Nabeeha, Urges Security Reform

The 2023 presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed sadness at the killing of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar, who was abducted alongside her siblings.

Alhaji Mansoor Al-Kadriyar and his six children, including Nabeeha, were taken from their home in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, on the second of January.

Nabeeha, a 400-level student of biological science at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, was tragically killed last Friday.

It was gathered that the gunmen had earlier released their father, asking him to get N60 million in ransom for the release of his daughters before Friday, January 12.

The hoodlums killed the oldest of the six girls, Nabeeha, and dumped her body somewhere for her parents to bury, as they were unable to raise the money and have now increased their demand to N100 million.

In reaction, Atiku said it is yet another reminder that kidnappers and bandits are operating unhindered in the country, while noting that the security architecture needs to be rejigged to the extent that it stems the free rein of criminal elements and guarantees the safety of lives and property.

Also reacting, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, said the tragic killing not only shows how insecurity currently ravages the nation but also shows “how helpless Nigerians have become in the face of these dangers.”

According to him, the latest tragedy should prick the conscience of leaders to realize their primary duty, which, according to the constitution, is to protect the life of every Nigerian citizen.

Moreover, the FCT Police Command recently confirmed the deteriorating security situation in the nation’s capital. It said that there had been a series of reported cases of kidnapping within the FCT and claimed that the command was on top of the situation.
