Hard Times Will Soon Fade Away — First Lady Tinubu

Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has assured Nigerians that the hard times they face will soon be over.

She gave the assurance during a meeting with governors' wives at the presidential villa in Abuja.

The First Lady said 2024 is loaded with peace, progress, prosperity, and greater achievements to the advantage of all Nigerians.

She said the Women Agricultural Support Programme (WASP), under her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), will empower 20 farmers each from five states in the South East Zone.

The First Lady said she would soon launch the "Young Farmers Club" in public schools nationwide to encourage farming among the young population.

Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka, Condemns Tinubu’s Government For Nigeria’s Challenges

In a fiery sermon delivered at his Adoration Ministry in Emene, Enugu State, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, aimed at President Bola Tinubu's administration, he highlighted concerns about insecurity and hardship in the country.

Mbaka expressed that Tinubu's path to the presidency faced numerous obstacles, such as the Naira redesign policy, suggesting that his success was due to providence.

However, the priest lamented the perceived lack of political will from President Tinubu to address Nigeria's challenges, particularly corruption within the oil sector controlled by a specific cabal. Despite urging the president to take decisive action, Mbaka noted that Tinubu had not yet confronted these powerful figures.

Mbaka emphasised the broken hearts of Nigerians, pointing to issues in education, healthcare, and the plight of security forces. He called on the president to tackle these problems promptly, asserting that God was watching.

The priest questioned the state of the oil sector, emphasising the need for accountability and transparency. He urged Tinubu to confront corrupt individuals, even if they didn't support him during his political journey.

Mbaka also warned of a looming wave of hunger if insecurity persisted, citing attacks on farmers by armed herders. He urged citizens, including politicians, to engage in meaningful activities and emphasised the importance of addressing insecurity for the nation's well-being.

Reiterating his belief in Tinubu's potential to bring positive change, Mbaka encouraged the president to use his wealth and influence to implement transformative policies. He specifically mentioned addressing high-interest loans from banks and supporting youth empowerment.

Mbaka's history of controversial prophecies, including his previous endorsement of President Buhari and subsequent disagreements with the Buhari presidency, was also mentioned in the blog post.

You Need Help, Atiku Blasts Tinubu Over Economic Crisis

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has again tackled President Bola Tinubu over his “renewed hope” economic plans.

Atiku, the flag bearer of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2023 presidential election, noted that the renewed hope agenda ironically dashes hopes, creating pain and causing despair.

He also said the policies were shrinking small businesses and causing multinational companies to exit the country in droves.

In a statement on Sunday, he noted that President Tinubu, with the economic hardship, had shown he could not address the country's various challenges.

He said Nigerians are gravely concerned and that the president’s poor response to Nigeria’s economic challenges sets the stage for a prolonged and deeper domestic economic crisis.

Atiku said the private sector is shrinking by the day as small businesses are emasculated and multinational companies, confused and weary of the economy, leave Nigeria in droves.

However, in a swift reaction, the Presidency, in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga, said Atiku is doing a poor job in criticising Tinubu by offering pedestrian and uninformed interventions on the economy and other matters of public concerns.

According to Onanuga, Atiku is increasingly carving for himself the role of opposition-in-chief to President Tinubu and his government.

Alleged N109bn Fraud: Ex-AGF Ahmed Idris Trial Adjourned To March 20

The former Accountant General of the Federation's (AGF) Ahmed Idris's trial on the alleged 109 billion naira corruption charge at the FCT High Court has been adjourned to March 20.

Idris is being tried alongside three others by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for the alleged diversion of the said money.

During the proceedings, the witness admitted that the former AGF didn’t have a lawyer with him when the anti-graft agency took his statements during the investigation.

The witness informed the court that the anti-graft agency took the statements of the former AGF six times in 2022, and on all of these days, he waived his rights to an attorney as a condition of being granted bail on self-recognition.

The trial judge, Yusuf Halilu, admitted as evidence a video tendered by the counsel for the EFCC, Rotimi Jacobs, which is an interview session with Idris and two other accused persons.

Counsels to the parties in the case later addressed the press.
