PFN Says Catholic Bishop Of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, Should Not Be Used As Sacrificial Lamb

The President, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Dr. FELIX OMOBUDE, has said Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop MATTHEW KUKAH, should not be used as the sacrificial lamb.

Speaking to journalists in his church premises in Benin, OMOBUDE backed Bishop KUKAH for speaking the truth at "this critical time of our national life."

He described KUKAH as an advocate of democracy saying he could not have been calling for the military overthrow of the government.

KUKAH, in his Christmas message, titled, 'A nation in search of vindication,' accused the President of deliberately sacrificing the dreams of Nigerians to institutionalize northern hegemony.

The message had drawn the ire of the Presidency, the Northern Elders Forum, Muslim Rights Concern as well as the Coalition of Northern Groups.

Constitutional lawyer, Barrister FRED NZEAKO reacts to MURIC's request that KUKAH should recuse himself from the National Peace Committee.

He said the administration will “not hesitate to shut down shopping malls, Maitama farmers’ market and business premises in the city that fail to comply with the COVID-19 protocols and guidelines.

“From what we observed, there is high compliance by costumers and visitors to these malls and business premises, sadly, same cannot be said of the workers and operators of shops and other businesses in the malls” He said.

CAN Warns The Presidency Against Twisting The Homily Delivered By Bishop Kukah

The Christian Association of Nigeria in the 19 northern states and the FCT has warned the Presidency and the Muslim Rights Concern against twisting the homily delivered by the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop MATHEW KUKAH on Christmas day.

This is also as the Catholic Church described those attacking the Bishop as agents of evil.

KUKAH had in the Christmas message titled, 'A nation in search of vindication', accused the President of nepotism, noting that BUHARI was deliberately sacrificing the dreams of Nigerians to institutionalise northern hegemony.

The cleric's statement attracted sharp criticisms and condemnations from the Presidency and MURIC.

But in a statement in Kaduna, the Northern CAN defended the cleric, noting that the message reflected the currently reality across the country.

The statement authored by the Vice Chairman, Northern CAN, Rev. JOHN HAYAB, said the association was shocked at an attempt by the Presidency and MURIC to twist the message and warned against such.
