Gunmen Kidnap Channels TV Reporter In Rivers

Gunmen abducted Joshua Rogers, a journalist with Channels Television in Rivers State, from his residence in Rumuosi, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area. The incident occurred on Thursday night around 9 pm, shortly after Rogers returned home from work.

According to reports, Rogers was trailed to his residence and confronted by armed individuals who forcibly took him away in his own vehicle. As the Government House correspondent for Channels Television, Rogers had been covering an event in Ndoni, Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni LGA earlier that day, where Governor Siminalayi Fubara inaugurated a primary healthcare center donated by former Rivers State Governor, Peter Odili.

The kidnappers have since contacted Rogers' wife, demanding a ransom of N30 million for his release. Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, for comment on the situation have been unsuccessful.

In Lagos on Wednesday, an unfortunate incident unfolded, leading to the ejection of two adults from an 18-seater bus into the Lagos lagoon, resulting in significant repercussions.

Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, the Lagos Territorial Coordinator for the National Emergency Management Agency, conveyed this information via a statement. He detailed that the Marine Police are actively engaged in locating the missing individuals, a male and a female, who fell from the LT 18-seater bus. According to Farinloye, the incident transpired near the Adeniyi Adele axis on the Third Mainland Bridge, as the bus, registered under FKJ 872 YA, veered off course due to the driver's excessive speed, colliding with the bridge railings.

This collision forcefully propelled the two passengers into the Lagos lagoon. Efforts are underway by the Marine Police to locate and rescue the victims. Additionally, the injured parties have been promptly transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

Born on July 19, 1986, Omobayo brings a wealth of experience as an engineer in the oil and gas industry. He holds a bachelor's degree in electrical and electronics engineering as well as a master's in public administration from the University of Benin.

Omobayo is an esteemed member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria.

Presently serving as a senior maintenance engineer at Dresser Wayne West Africa Limited, Omobayo has garnered extensive expertise in the South-South region. Beyond his professional endeavors, he is actively engaged in local politics within his community.

The gunmen who abducted two students of the Federal University in Wukari, Taraba State, have reduced the ransom from fifty million naira to twelve million naira.

The students who were about to write their examination, had gone to eat at a restaurant on campus, when they were taken.

The Chairman of Wukari Local Government Area, Agbu Dauda, told TVC News that security operatives are on the trail of the kidnappers.
