Inspector-General of Police Says The Police Force Needs 1trillion Naira To Fight Insecurity.

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has said the Nigeria Police Force will need almost 1trillion Naira to carry out its operations across the country in the fight against insecurity.

The IG made this known at a public hearing organized by the House of Representatives Committee on Police Affairs, themed ‘Repositioning the Nigeria Police for an Enhanced Service Delivery.’

He had on Tuesday said apart from more personnel, the Force needed not less than 1,000 Armored Personnel Carriers, 250,000 assault rifles with corresponding ammunition, to effectively police Nigeria.

Ten People Killed in Borno By Boko Haram.

Ten people have been killed in the latest onslaught by Boko Haram sect during the raid on a village in restive Borno State.

 

According to civilian militia sources, the sect also set buildings on fire and looted food supplies.

 

They said the suspected Boko Haram insurgents in trucks fitted with machine guns stormed Rumirgo village in the AskiraUba district on Saturday, shooting indiscriminately and sending residents fleeing into the surrounding countryside.

Plateau State Commissioner of Health Says 43 People Have Been Quarantined Over Suspected Case of COVID-19

Dr. Nimkong Ndam, Plateau State Commissioner of Health, has disclosed that 43 persons are being quarantined in Bakin Kaya village of Wase Local Government Area of the state, over suspected cases of Coronavirus.

The commissioner disclosed this during a press briefing in Jos, while giving an update on the outbreak of the disease in the state.

However, Ndam said there are no known symptoms in those quarantined in the state.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu Reaffirms His Commitment Towards The Fight Against Coronavirus

Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has again re-assured Nigerians that the State remained committed to every effort geared towards preventing the human-to-human transmission of the COVID-19 virus, following the index case reported last Friday.

Governor Sanwolu said both the State and Federal Government healthcare officials had been working round the clock with infectious disease control professionals from the international agencies to ensure the counter measures being deployed to contain the virus achieved the desired results.

The Governor Sanwo-Olu spoke on Sunday during his visit to the State-owned bio-security and containment facility at Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) in Yaba, Lagos Mainland, where the Italian national diagnosed with COVID-19 is being managed.
