Miyetti Allah distances self from death of daughter of Afenifere leader, Olufunke

Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has condemned and distance itself from the killing of Mrs OLUFUNKEOLAKUNRIN, daughter of the leader of Afenifere, Pa REUBEN FASORANTI.

A statement issued by the National Secretary of the association, BABA NGELZARMA, in Abuja, said MACBAN commiserated with FASORANTI on the death of his daughter.

NGELZARMA said that the association was shocked on how a section of the media in collaboration with elements in the country is using the opportunity to fuel crisis in Nigeria.

He regretted that these elements continue a negative profiling of Fulanis for their total annihilation by jumping into a mischievous conclusion that she was killed by herdsmen.

Osinbajo promises revampment of security architecture as Police start manhunt for killers of Pa Fasoranti’s daughter, Olufunke

Vice President Professor YEMI OSINBAJO has assured Nigerians that the Federal Government will revamp the security architecture to combat the escalating rate of criminal activities currently ravaging the country.

Professor OSINBAJO gave the assurance when he paid a condolence visit to REUBEN FASORANTI, leader of Afenifere over the death of his second daughter, OLUFUNKE OLAKUNRIN.

OLAKURIN was shot dead at Ore, Ondo State, on Friday by unknown gunmen while on her way from Akure, the state capital, to Lagos.

Noting that security remains a complex issue for such a large geographical entity like Nigeria, the vice president stated that the Federal Government must continue to review its strategies to effectively tackle the criminal elements in the country.

National leader of the All Progressives Congress, BOLA TINUBU, on his part said the brutal killing of OLAKUNRIN was sad and unacceptable.

He noted that he was concerned about the security challenges in the nation and asked Nigerians not to trivialize the issue of herdsmen.

Meanwhile, Nigeria Police Force says it has started a massive manhunt for the killers of Mrs. FUNKE OLAKUNRIN, daughter of a National Leader of the Afenifere group, Pa REUBEN FASORANTI.

Buhari says he is under pressure to release ministerial list

President BUHARI has admitted that he had been under unprecedented pressure to release the names of his ministerial-nominees.

The President, who made a brief remark during a dinner he had with the leadership of the National Assembly, however, maintained that he would not be stampeded into releasing the list.

He stated that when he first came into office in 2015, majority of ministerial appointees were not known to him personally.

Senate President, AHMAD LAWAN had told his colleagues at plenary on Wednesday that the Ministerial list will get to the senate before the end of the week.

In 2015, during the first tenure of the President, it took him about six months to release the list of ministerial nominees.

Court of Appeal to deliver judgement on Buhari’s qualification for 2019 polls

The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division will today deliver judgment in a suit challenging the academic qualification of President BUHARI to contest the February 23, 2019, presidential election.

A three-member panel of the Court of Appeal presided over by Justice ATINUKE AKOMOLAFE-WILSON, had on Monday, July 8, reserved judgment in the suit after listening to the argument by both counsels on the matter.

At the last sitting, counsel to the appellant, UKPAI UKAIRO, insisted that President BUHARI was not educationally qualified to have stood for the election on the grounds that the required certificates were not attached to his form CF001, submitted to INEC for clearance to contest the presidential poll.

The counsel denied the claim that the suit of the appellants was statute-barred, adding that the case was instituted on November 5, 2018, within the 14 days allowed by law.

UKAIRO, therefore, urged the Court of Appeal to allow the appeal and set aside the decision of the Federal High Court on grounds of miscarriage of justice.

He asked the court to nullify BUHARI’S participation in the February 23 presidential election because he was not educationally qualified for the poll at the time he did.

However, lawyers to the 1st and 2nd respondents urged the court to dismiss the appeal for being incompetent and lacking merit.
