Eight members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God kidnapped by bandits on March 26 in Kaduna State have regained freedom.
Shortly after their release, all the abducted persons were taken to a hospital for medical check-up.
Pastor ENOCH ADEBOYE who is the General Overseer of RCCG disclosed this in a tweet.
The clergyman announced the release of the church members two weeks after they were abducted by bandits while on transit along the Kachia Road in the southern part of Kaduna.
The lecturers are calling for the implementation of a new salary scheme.
The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has commenced a nationwide strike to press home demands bordering on the implementation of a new salary scheme for lecturers, among others.
The strike kicks off with immediate effect on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, ASUP has announced.
Negotiations between ASUP and a federal government delegation have been deadlocked.
The umbrella body of polytechnic lecturers is also demanding payment of salaries and promotion allowances owed lecturers by some state governments.
ASUP's strike arrives barely three months after the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU),called off its nine month-long strike over unpaid allowances.
The nation's resident doctors are also on strike at the time of reporting, as President Muhammadu Buhari tends to his health in London.
Several gunmen have attacked the Owerri Correctional Prison in the Imo State capital and freed over 1500 inmates.
The attackers also razed the Imo State Police Command headquarters situated in Owerri and burnt almost all the vehicles parked at the command headquarters.
The hoodlums freed all the suspects in almost all the cells at the State Criminal Investigation Department of the command.
A security source said the gunmen sang solidarity songs at the Government House roundabout for about 30 minutes before attacking the facilities.
On breaking into the prison facility with the aid of explosives and dynamite, the attackers told inmates, "Go home, Jesus has risen. You have no reason to be here."
When contacted, the police spokesperson in the state, ORLANDO IKEOKWU, confirmed the attacks but assured the people of the state that the security agencies were on top of the matter.
In an interview with Inspiration fm, Security Expert, Dr. KABIRU ADAMU believes attacks on security personnel and formations in the South-East were deliberate.

Ogun State government has launched the State Security Network codenamed Operation Amotekun.
At the event held in Abeokuta, the state capital, the state Governor DAPO ABIODUN decorated Nobel laureate WOLE SOYINKA as Super Marshal of the corps.
The governor also commissioned scores of patrol vans and motorcycles to aid the operations of the Amotekun Corps.
Governor ABIODUN said the launch is imperative in order to stem the tides of security challenges being witnessed in the state in recent times.
In his reaction, Prof SOYINKA urged the Amotekun corps to operate within the ambit of the law that establishes it.
