Tobi Bakre Wins Award For Acting At The Future Awards Africa

Renowned Nigerian actor and TV personality, Tobi Bakre, secured an award for his acting prowess at the recently concluded The Future Awards Africa.

Bakre's acting career gained momentum following his participation in the 2018 Big Brother Naija reality TV show, solidifying his status as one of the standout talents who transitioned to remarkable success.

Taking to social media to express his gratitude, Bakre credited his elder brother, a previous TFAA award recipient, for inspiring his journey. He said, "Big shout out to my brother @femibakre. You inspired this particular award. I hosted the Future Award years ago, and you won that particular year. I didn't know when or how, but I certainly wanted to touch the hem of your garment."

Bakre's achievements extend beyond this recent accolade, as he clinched the Best Actor title at the AMVCA ceremony in May for his compelling performance in Brotherhood. He also earned a spot on the AFRIFF 2023 honours list for his exceptional action star role in Gangs of Lagos. Known for his captivating roles in productions like Gangs of Lagos, Brotherhood, The Blood Covenant, and the recent hit Slum King.

The Future Awards Africa took place on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Lagos. The event celebrated 25 nominees who emerged as winners across diverse categories, spanning social activism, business, and entertainment.

Fallen Tree Kills Woman, Injures 10 Others In Ilorin

Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, experienced a tragic event on Monday morning when a massive tree toppled over, claiming a woman's life and leaving ten others injured.

The unfortunate incident occurred as the victims were waiting by the roadside near Baystar petrol station in the Zango-Kulende area, opposite Oke-Andi junction, Ilorin while waiting for transportation.

The incident, which occurred around 8 a.m., created chaos in the area, with the woman tragically losing her life at the scene. Additionally, the falling tree severed electricity cables and caused damage to nearby shops. Fortunately, some shop owners in the vicinity and a vulcaniser named Malam Abdulrasheed narrowly escaped harm, as they had not yet opened for business at the time of the incident.

The injured individuals were swiftly transported to the nearby Olutayo Clinic behind the Baystar petrol station. While some received treatment and were subsequently discharged, those in critical condition were referred to the Government General Hospital and the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Oke-Oyi.

To address the situation, saw millers were engaged to clear the fallen tree and its aftermath.

The artist, signed under Davido Music Worldwide (DMW), confirmed the incident through an Instagram post. He shared images of the damaged vehicle and expressed gratitude for his life, mentioning that his label boss, Davido, pledged to replace the car.

In addition to sharing this update, Olori called for government attention to fix the deteriorated condition of the Lekki road, where the accident occurred. He wrote, 'Thank God for life. Only one Godfather 001 @davido. New car is on the way. Let's hope they address the Lekki road.'

This incident comes after Logos Olori's debut single 'Jaye Lo' music video stirred controversy in July. The video featured scenes of people praying and dancing in front of a mosque, which received criticism, especially from the Muslim community, which found it disrespectful to their faith. In response, DMW boss Davido removed the video from his social media pages and created a new one for his artist.
