President Tinubu Vows Transformative Governance As Germany Seeks To Invest In Nigerian Gas

President Bola Tinubu has assured foreign investors that his administration is determined to change the narrative of Nigeria as a crawling nation by bringing transformative governance.

He spoke during bilateral political talks with the Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Olaf Scholz, and his entourage at State House in Abuja.

The German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said his country is willing to invest in gas and critical minerals in Nigeria as he started a two-day visit to the West African country.

Scholz said on Sunday that the European country looked to diversify its trade partners and expand economic partnerships in the energy-rich region.

His visit to Africa is the third in two years. Conflicts in the Middle East and elsewhere highlight the growing importance of an energy-rich region as an alternative to Russian energy.

On his part, the president called for improved cooperation in security, natural resources, education, and democracy, among others, with the government of Germany.

NLC May Boycott MOU Review Meeting If Labour Minister Simon Lalong Attends

The NLC President, Joe Ajaero, issued the threat while fielding questions from journalists at a briefing on the plights of workers in Imo State.

Labour unions and the government have been in negotiations over their planned industrial action owing to the removal of fuel subsidy.

But Ajaero criticized Lalong for not being able to establish a cordial relationship with the organized labour.

The labour leader also accused the Imo State Government of violating the workers' rights in the state and threatened to mobilize its members to storm the state on Wednesday, the first of November.
