INEC Records 3.9 Million New Voters

The Independent National Electoral Commission has said the number of fresh registrants in the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voter Registration has reached 3,899,238.

The election umpire made this known in the CVR weekly update released last night.

The breakdown of the pre-registration statistics shows that Osun State has the highest number of online registrants with 453,949; followed by Delta State with 297,396 and Bayelsa State with 252,534.

“The number of registrants who have completed online and physical registration was 1,509,989, made up of 769,359 male and 740,630 female of which 15,903 were People Living with Disabilities,” the report added.

According to report, as of the time of releasing the update, 5,940,567 persons had applied for Permanent Voter Cards transfer, requested for replacement of PVCs, and update of voter information record, among others.

Federal High Court Adjourns Nnamdi Kanu’s Human Rights Suit To Nov 19

A Federal High Court in Abia State has adjourned a suit filed on behalf of the leader oft the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu against the Federal Government on matters relating to infringement of human rights.

A member of Kanu's legal counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, who disclosed this, said the suit is regarding matters relating to the former's extradition, alleged maltreatment by security operatives and his release.

The court had assigned the suit for hearing on November 2, 2021 but Ejimakor today said the suit had been adjourned to a later date.

“We are saddened by this development which primarily seeks the unconditional release of Kanu from his illegal detentions.”

Inspiration FM reports that the IPOB leader is currently in the facilities of the Department of State Services while awaiting trial by the Nigerian government.

IPOB had called for a one-week sit-at-home in solidarity and for his unconditional release.

Some Nigerians have warned against detaining billionaire businessman, Obinna Iyiegbu, aka Obi Cubana, who has been arrested by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC

Obi Cubana's arrest flooded the social media on Monday night and generated reactions from some Nigerians, who took to their social media handles to express concern.
 
Abba Yusuf Bichi, son of the Director General of the Department of State Service (DSS) described Obi Cubana, as a man of honour.
 
He said this in an Instagram post shortly after the EFCC arrested the socialite for alleged money laundering.
 
The DSS DG's son shared a picture of Obi Cubana and wrote, "A Man of honour and dignity."
 
An On Air Personality, OAP in a popular radio station in Abuja, Adeyemo Michael, a.k.a Mr Microphone, said that the arrest is coming at a time when Obi Cubana's state of origin is already tensed up.
 
A social media influencer, Adejor Kenneth said that Obi Cubana must be carefully monitored, stressing that his sources of wealth is unclear.
 
According to him, Cubana's ties with the embattled Inspector-General's Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Abba Kyari who was recently suspended over alleged corruption should be investigated.

Soludo Accuses Apc’s Uba Of Kidnapping, Certificate Forgery

Candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA for the November 6, 2021 governorship election, Professor Charles Soludo, has described the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Andy Uba as a kidnapper.

Soludo accused Andy Uba of kidnapping a sitting governor during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and further accused him of forging his Senior School Examination Certificate, SSCE.

Recall that Ubah was recently dragged to court over the school certificate he allegedly submitted for the election.                    

Senator UBA, however denied being involved in the kidnap of a sitting governor, eighteen years after the incident.

Some Nigerians who spoke on Inspiration FM’s All Out Politics are unaware of the revelations.

The Anambra governorship election will come up on November 6th 2021 amid serious security challenges posed by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.
