PDP Governors Forum Chairman Tambuwal says Nigeria is in urgent need of restructuring

The Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum (PDP-GF), Aminu Tambuwal, has said Nigeria was in urgent need of restructuring to survive.

Tambuwal, who is the governor of Sokoto State, said that Nigeria must also embrace technology to tackle insecurity, unemployment and other problems confronting the country.

He said this in his remarks at a two-day PDP National Retreat with the theme: “It’s time to rescue Nigeria”, held in Abuja.

He added that PDP remained the only credible alternative to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and could not afford to fail Nigerians.

FG To Address Areas Of Concern In Endsars Reports

The Presidency has assured that the Federal Government will address the areas associated with the White Paper report of the recently submitted Lagos Judicial Panel on Inquiry on Police Brutality and other related matters.

This was made known by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, while appearing on a monitored Programme in Abuja.

Adesina, while explaining the steps that the Federal Government intends to take in handling the findings of the Lagos Judicial Panel, said the Federal Government will wait till submission of the reports from the states before it could address areas of concern.

Presidency Okays February 2022 For APC National Convention

President Muhammadu Buhari has endorsed February 2022 as new date for the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention.

The Chairman of Progressive Governors’ Forum, Atiku Bagudu, confirmed this development to State House correspondents at the end of a closed door meeting with President Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Monday.

The Chairman of APC Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, Mai Mala Buni, and the Jigawa State Governor, Badaru Abubakar, were also at the meeting.

Bagudu, who was not specific on the exact date for the convention in February, said the convention was shifted because four states were yet to complete their congresses.

He said the decision of the Sunday night meeting was also conveyed to President Buhari

The governors were however silent on the issue of zoning arrangements for party offices at the national level.

Arewa Consultative Forum Says Attacks On Abuja-Kaduna Road A National Shame

The apex northern sociocultural group, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has described the recurring attacks, abduction and killings of innocent people on the Abuja-Kaduna highway as a national shame.

The ACF, through its national publicity Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Yawe, expressed worry that on a daily basis, Nigerians are being terrorised, kidnapped and killed without let on this road.

One of the latest victim of this act of terror is Hamida Sagir, a retired director of protocol at the Federal Capital Development Authority and a governorship aspirant in Zamfara State who was shot and killed at Rijana, a village along the Abuja-Kaduna highway.

Yesterday, a joint team of security operatives led by the Kaduna state Commissioner of Police, Mudashiru Abdullahi visited the scene to assess the situation on the highway.

According to Mudasiru, 11 travelers were rescued.
