Omicron Variant: Health Experts Raise Concern Over Visit By South African President, Ramaphosa To Nigeria

Health experts have raised concerns over the proposed visit of the South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, to Nigeria today.

This is on the backdrop of the outbreak of Omicron, a new strain of COVID-19 in South Africa and the travel restrictions imposed on Southern African countries by several countries.

President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to receive the South African President and other top government functionaries of his administration who are scheduled to undertake a three-day visit to Nigeria.

The Secretary to the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19, Dr. Muktar Muhammed, said the delegates would be requested to bring a negative PCR test, be vaccinated and be tested on day two of their arrival into Nigeria.

But in an interview, the Chairman, Expert review Committee on COVID-19, Professor Oyewale Tomori, warned that failure to test the delegates on arrival might lead to a “disaster.

According to the comedian in a post shared via his Instagram page on Sunday, November 28, 2021, it is totally unnecessary to call anyone out on social media especially if you have phone numbers.

"There are two ways to call people. 1. A phone call and 2. Social media call out. The latter is lame and disrespectful. Especially when you have their phone number," he wrote.

Nollywood Veteran Clem Ohameze Receives N8M For Spinal Surgery

The movie star sustained injuries after a car accident a few years ago.

Nollywood veteran Clem Ohameze has received the sum of eight million naira for surgery.

The movie star was gifted with the huge amount of money by a popular pastor, Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin.

While narrating his ordeal, the movie veteran said his health challenges started after he had a car accident some time ago.

He disclosed that after the accident, he had visited the hospital where an x-ray was conducted on him to ascertain the extent of injury sustained.

According to him, the result of the x-ray showed that his “cervical vertebrae 3 had collapsed on the 4th, thereby causing pressure on my spinal cord and the retardment of the lower limb”.

The 'Last Burial' star said he was treated for a while and he got better. He, however, said he noticed that he started having difficulty walking later.

Gunmen Attack Jos Correctional Centre In Plateau

Gunmen have attacked the Jos Correctional Centre in Plateau State.

Reports, suggest that security operatives have been able to repel the attack, although the identity of the assailants is yet to be verified.

Military Information Officer for Operation Safe Haven, Major Ishaku who confirmed the attack explained that personnel of the joint task force at the facility fought to curtail the attackers.

Also giving an account of the attack, the Controller of Corrections and Public Relations Officer, Francis Enobore noted that the invaders arrived at the Jos custodial center at about 5:00 pm on Sunday and immediately approached the main gate where they were engaged and resisted by the armed squad personnel in a gun battle.

But the gunmen persisted and were able to break into the yard.
