Kaduna State Government Transition To Four-Day Working Week

The Kaduna State Government will commence a transition to a four-day working week in the state.

In the interim, it will permit public servants to work from home for one day per week.

This measure is designed to help boost productivity, improve work-life balance and enable workers to have more time for their families, for rest and for agriculture.

A statement from Kashim Ibrahim House said the measure also reflects lessons learnt from managing the Covid-19 pandemic which required significant relaxations of old working traditions and the ascendance of virtual and remote working arrangements.

252 Inmates On The Run As NCoS Confirms 9dead, 6 Injured In Jos Prison Attack

The Nigeria Correctional Service has confirmed nine inmates were shot dead, six injured during the recent Jos Medium Security Custodial Centre attack.

It also said that 252 inmates were still on the run, after officials of the Correctional Service conducted a head count.

According to a statement by the Spokesman of the Service, CC Francis Enobore, on Monday in Abuja, noted that one of the NCoS Armed Squad personnel paid the supreme price in the encounter.

Briefing reporters on the development, Spokesperson of the Plateau Police Command, ASP Gabriel Ogaba Ubah said following a full reinforcement of combined team of security Operatives in the state to the Centre, nine fleeing inmates were arrested.

The comptroller of the prison, Samuel Aguda counted the losses during the invasion.

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have returned to the Abuja-Kaduna highway, abducting dozens of travelers.

The attack occurred between Akilbu and Rijana villages along the expressway.

Confirming the attack, Senator Shehu Sani, a former Kaduna State senator who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Senate said the security officers refused to engage the kidnappers.

Passengers on the Abuja-Kaduna highway have been targeted by gunmen recently, with several persons abducted and some killed.

A Zamfara governorship aspirant in the 2019 election, Sagir Hamida was recently killed by gunmen along the highway with several other travelers also kidnapped during the attack.

FG To Release New Travel Protocol To Prevent Entry Of Omicron Into Nigeria

The Federal government is set to release a new travel protocol as a proactive measure to prevent the Omicron COVID variant from entering Nigeria.

National incident manager of the presidential taskforce on COVID-19, Mukhtar Muhammad said this at a media briefing in Abuja.

The index case of Omicron was detected in South Africa last week and the World Health Organisation subsequently designated Omicron as a “variant of concern” calling on global leaders to take action to contain its spread.

On his part, the Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Dr. Ifedayo Adetifa debunked claims that cases of the variant have been detected in Nigeria.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire said Nigeria is adopting a watchful waiting posture.

In an interview with inspiration FM, the Chairman, Committee on COVID-19, Nigerian Medical Association Lagos state Chapter, Dr. Japheth Olu-Gbo-Gi encouraged all those who have not been vaccinated to go get the shot as the W.H.O. continues its findings.
