The Presidency has slammed the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, saying that he once benefited from judicial pronouncements when he reclaimed his mandate as Anambra Governor in 2007 but now castigates the same when the Supreme Court ruled in favour of President Bola Tinubu on October 26, 2023.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, made this known in a statement hours after Obi faulted the Supreme Court verdict, which affirmed President Tinubu's victory.
Onanuga said Obi and his party should know that the Supreme Court or any other court does not give judgment based on public opinion and mob sentiments, adding that judicial pronouncements are based on evidence, precedents, and the rule of law.
The presidential aide said the former governor of Anambra should quit criticism and congratulate President Tinubu, adding that his decision to play opposition is a welcome development.
A cross-section of callers on our political programme, All Out Politics, also commented on the press conference by Peter Obi.
