Aubameyang Stripped Of Arsenal Captaincy

Arsenal have stripped Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of the club captaincy following a disciplinary breach last week.

Aubameyang was left out of the squad for Saturday's match against Southampton, and Arsenal confirmed their decision to remove the forward as captain on Tuesday.

The club also said Aubameyang will not be available for selection against West Ham on Wednesday.

"We expect all our players, particularly our captain, to work to the rules and standards we have all set and agreed," the club said in a statement.

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta said that the "painful" decision had been made to "defend the interests of the football club".

The Spaniard confirmed that both he and senior club officials had held face-to-face conversations with Aubameyang to inform him of their decision.

Richarlison Out For Several Weeks With Calf Injury

Everton forward Richarlison is out for a "number of weeks" with the calf injury he sustained in their 3-1 defeat by Crystal Palace.

He was substituted after 58 minutes of the game - a decision which saw manager Rafael Benitez booed by Everton fans.

But Benitez said after the game he had taken him off because of the injury.

The Palace match also saw Andros Townsend fracture his foot and captain Seamus Coleman sustain bone bruising and soft tissue damage.

Both players will continue to be assessed but they add to Everton's mounting injury list.

England international Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been out since August with a thigh problem.

Benitez is also without midfielder Tom Davies (knee) and defender Yerry Mina, who lasted just 31 minutes on his comeback after two months out before sustaining a calf problem.

Everton are currently 14th in the Premier League.

Robert Lewandowski Equals Goals Record In Bayern Munich Win

Robert Lewandowski equalled Gerd Muller's Bundesliga record for goals scored in a single calendar year as Bayern Munich thrashed Stuttgart.

Lewandowski's second goal on Tuesday was his 42nd in 2021, matching Muller's haul from 1972.

Serge Gnabry scored either side of half-time to put the visitors 2-0 up, before Lewandowski struck twice in three minutes.

Germany international Gnabry completed his hat-trick two minutes later.

One more goal in Bayern's final game of the year - at home to Wolfsburg on Friday - will give Lewandowski the record outright.

In May, the Poland striker scored in the last minute of the 2020-21 season to break Muller's record for Bundesliga goals in a campaign.

Gnabry, who was involved in all five goals in Stuttgart, has found the net nine times in Germany's top flight this season - more than any other midfielder in the division.

The win moves Julian Nagelsmann's side nine points clear of second-placed Borussia Dortmund, who can cut the gap at the top of the table to six points with victory at home to bottom club Greuther Furth on Wednesday.
