Buhari Is Retiring To Kaduna – Governor El-Rufai

Governor Nasir el-Rufai has said that President Muhammadu Buhari will be retiring to Kaduna state at the end of his tenure in 2023.

El-Rufai said this while briefing State House Correspondents after a meeting with the Nigerian leader on Tuesday December 21.

He also noted that President Buhari has spent most of his life in Kaduna even though he is originally from Katsina state.

The Governor said;

“Mr President has been invited to come and commission some of our projects. He will spend two to three days in Kaduna commissioning projects in Kafanchan, Kaduna and Zaria.

“As you know, the President is a Kaduna-based citizen. He is originally from Katsina state, but he spent most of his life in Kaduna. And he’s retiring to Kaduna.

“We hope that he will be happy with what we have done and he will be proud of what we have done as an APC government, and we appreciate all the support that he has given us to enable us to do this.”

This is coming after President Buhari said he's looking forward to returning to his farm in Daura.

At his 79th birthday party last week, the President was quoted saying “I look forward to the year 2023 when I finish and I go (back) home to take charge of my farm.”

Bencis & Jabeur Test Positive For Covid-19 Following Abu Dhabi

Belinda Bencic and Ons Jabeur have both tested positive for Covid-19 after playing in Abu Dhabi.

They are the third and fourth players to have returned positive tests after travelling to the Mubadala World Tennis Championship.

Britain's US Open champion and the 2021 BBC Sports Personality of the Year winner Emma Raducanu withdrew before the start of the tournament.

Rafael Nadal revealed he had tested positive upon his return to Spain.

On Tuesday, his coach Carlos Moya said he had also returned a positive test.

Switzerland's Olympic champion Bencic lost to Tunisia's Jabeur in the sole women's match at the championship.

In a Twitter post, Bencic said: "Unfortunately and even though I am fully vaccinated, I recently tested positive for Covid-19.

"I am currently isolating and taking all precautionary [measures] to get through this as best as possible as I am experiencing quite severe symptoms (fever, aches, chills)."

Jabeur, who is isolating in Tunisia, said she was also experiencing "strong symptoms".

The Abu Dhabi tournament, which also featured Britain's Andy Murray, often serves as a warm-up event for elite players training in the region before heading to the Australian Open in Melbourne.

Eddie Nketiah’s Hat-Trick Sends Arsenal Into Carabao Cup Semi-Final

Eddie Nketiah continued his prolific form in the Carabao Cup with a clinical hat-trick as Arsenal saw off League One Sunderland to book their spot in the semi-finals.

The forward turned in from close range to open the scoring after Rob Holding's header was palmed into his path and Nicolas Pepe soon doubled the hosts' lead.

That looked to have put the Gunners in control only for Sunderland to hit back when Nathan Broadhead coolly clipped over the onrushing Bernd Leno from Elliot Embleton's superbly-weighted pass.

But Nketiah cleverly turned in a low Nuno Tavares cross straight after the break to re-establish the lead. The 22-year-old saved his best until last, though, flicking Pepe's pass between his legs and beyond goalkeeper Lee Burge.

Arsenal's 18-year-old debutant Charlie Patino then capped a superb night for the Gunners with an injury-time fifth at Emirates Stadium.

Sunderland were competitive but, despite Embleton curling against a post from distance, the visitors struggled to contain their top-flight hosts and it was a comfortable victory for Mikel Arteta's men.

Arsenal will discover their last-four opponents on Wednesday when the draw takes place after Tottenham host West Ham.
