Romelku Lukaku Tenders Apology To Chelsea Supporters

After publicly apologizing to Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel, his teammates, and the club's supporters for his recent interview, Romelu Lukaku says it is up to him to "restore trust."

Tuchel announced on Tuesday that Lukaku will play in Chelsea's Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham on Wednesday, after the club's record signing was rested for Sunday's 2-2 Premier League draw with Liverpool.

Lukaku expressed his dissatisfaction with the situation at Chelsea in an interview with Sky in Italy, saying he didn't like Tuchel's style of play.

"To the fans, I'm sorry for the upset that I caused," Lukaku said in an interview with the club website.

"You guys know the connection that I have with this club since my teenage years, so I totally understand you guys being upset.

"Obviously, it's up to me now to restore your trust and I'll do my best to show commitment every day on the training ground and in the games, trying to make sure that we win games.

"And also to the manager, I apologise, and also to my team-mates and the board, because I think it was not the right moment also and I want to move forward from this and make sure that we start winning football games and that I perform for the team in the best manner."

After smoothing over the Lukaku controversy, Tuchel lauded the "close relationship" he has with the Chelsea board and disclosed that the Belgium international will be fined for taking part in the interview.

Chelsea managers always fare badly when the board is in disarray, but Tuchel has solidified relationships with directors Petr Cech and Marina Granovskaia.

Tuchel's tenacity and cooperation spirit appear to have paid off, as he has been vindicated for his firm stance.

President Buhari Appoints Dr. Salami Chief Economic Adviser

With less than sixteen months to the end of his tenure, President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Dr. DOYIN SALAMI to serve as his first Chief Economic Adviser.

The administration has witnessed two recessions in less than seven years of its reign with the country taking a bottom position in key economic indices – unemployment and inflation among many others.

The administration has also been consistently knocked for its lacklustre management of the economy and dreary outputs of its policies, though the administration has consistently claimed to have inherited a "dying" economy.

However, all along, the office of the Chief Economic Adviser to the President had remained unoccupied. But two years ago, Salami, 59, a frontline economic scholar, was picked to head a hurriedly-inaugurated Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC), which many said was established without reference to the National Economic Council (NEC) headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
