Rivers State Speaker Ehie Edison Escapes Assassination

The factional Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Edison Ehie, has insisted that he is solidly behind the state governor, Sim Fubara, after he alleges an attack on his house by gunmen in police uniform.

Earlier yesterday, Edison Ehie alleged that armed men suspected to be police officers and political thugs invaded his residence, calling the alleged attack an assassination attempt.

Speaking later, Ehie said he is ready to lay down his life, if need be, insisting that loyalty to Governor Fubara is total.

Reacting to the assassination allegation from Ehie, Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, said the claim is not true, noting that what happened was a pure case of policemen on a routine convoy patrol.

CP Disu spoke to journalists outside the Executive Council Chambers after a courtesy visit to Governor Siminalayi Fubara in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

Mohbad’s Autopsy Report Not With Us Yet – Police

The Lagos State Police Command revealed today, November 21, 2023, that they are still awaiting the autopsy report for the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, despite the examination being conducted two months ago. This marks the two-month anniversary since Mohbad's body was exhumed for an autopsy to determine the cause of his death.

Mohbad's demise on September 12 triggered widespread controversies, prompting the police to form an investigative team to unravel the circumstances surrounding the singer's death. In September, the Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, announced the completion of the autopsy, stating that the results were awaited.

In October, Commissioner of Police Idowu Owohunwa identified prime suspects in Mohbad's death, revealing that the singer had experienced adverse reactions, including vomiting and goosebumps, after being injected three times by a nurse named Feyisayo Ogedemgbe.

Following the arrest and subsequent charging of some suspects linked to the case, the state police command released Naira Marley and Sam Larry on bail last Friday. Both artists had been detained as part of the investigation after videos depicting assaults against Mohbad surfaced online.

Responding to inquiries about the release of Mohbad's autopsy report on Monday, Hundeyin clarified that the command had not received the official report. He emphasized the importance of official confirmation, stating, "We don’t work with rumors; we work with facts."

On Saturday, Nigerian artist Bella Shmurda took to his X account to appeal to the police for the prompt release of Mohbad's remains. Expressing concern over the prolonged delay in the release of the body, Bella urged the police to expedite the process, allowing for a dignified funeral arrangement. He also requested timely disclosure of the autopsy results.

In response to the ongoing situation, Hundeyin clarified that only the family's lawyer could formally request the release of the autopsy result from the pathologists, or it would be independently provided to the police when ready.

I Struggled To Find Accommodation When I First Came To Lagos – Shallipopi

Crown Uzama, professionally known as Shallipopi, recently shared the story of his modest beginnings when he faced challenges finding accommodation upon arriving in Lagos from Benin City. The rapper recounted this journey during an interview on the Zero Conditions Podcast, shedding light on the hurdles he overcame.

Shallipopi revealed that upon his initial move to Lagos, he struggled to secure a place to stay. Despite reaching out to acquaintances in the city who had previously expressed admiration for his music, he faced rejection from all four of them.

He began, “Before my song ‘Elon Musk’ blew, I came to Lagos and sought a place to stay. Then I started contacting some of my acquaintances in Lagos who had been flaunting their flamboyant lifestyle on WhatsApp statuses because some had told me before that they liked my song, ‘Elon Musk.’ I contacted four people, but they all said I couldn’t stay with them."

Undeterred by these setbacks, Shallipopi persevered and continued his accommodation search. Eventually, he found someone willing to offer him a place to stay, although it was under the pretense that he would only be there for a few days.

“I eventually found someone who said I should come stay with them. I told them that I was going to stay for just four days. After I stayed there for four days, I got a show in Port Harcourt just with my song ‘Elon Musk,’ which wasn’t gaining much traction then. But the fee was N50,000, and the organizers paid for my flight. The people I was staying with insisted on going with me. It was my first flight,” he added.

As fate would have it, Shallipopi's song "Elon Musk" gained significant popularity, leading to his breakthrough in the music industry. At just 23 years old, he has continued to ascend the ladder of success, establishing his record label and achieving success with subsequent hit songs.

Mayorkun Discloses The Reason Why He Kept His Mother’s Identity A Secret

In a recent interview, Nigerian singer Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel, popularly known as Mayorkun, opened up about the reasons behind keeping his mother's identity a secret for many years. He emphasized that during his formative years, he preferred not to disclose that his mother was the renowned Nollywood actress Toyin Adewale.

Before attaining fame, Mayorkun and his brother desired to lead ordinary lives, which proved challenging given their mother's widespread popularity. They consciously kept their mother's identity low-key to achieve their desired freedom.

Mayorkun explained, “Growing up, my brother and I didn’t like that our mom was a popular actress because we wanted freedom, but with her fame came fake attention."

The singer further revealed that his choice to keep his mother's identity under wraps was also driven by humility. He expressed his desire for people to appreciate him for who he is, without any bias, based on his mother's fame.

“I hated being treated differently, not because you like me but because I am Toyin Adewale’s son," he added.

Mayorkun reflected on his university days at the University of Lagos, where he pursued a degree in accounting. During this time, he went to great lengths to maintain a normal lifestyle and successfully kept his mother's identity hidden for the four years of his higher education.

He recounted, “Even at my university, people didn’t know she was my mother for four years. I was intentional about this. My mum brought food to me at school once, and a girl saw her. I quickly ran to her to get what she came with, just so no one else saw her.”

Mayorkun, the eldest of his parents' three children, was born into a family of entertainers, and it is no surprise that he followed suit and became an entertainer himself.
