Jamie Foxx Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Woman After She Requested A Photo

Actor Jamie Foxx was accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a bar in a new lawsuit that was filed Wednesday in a New York court.

The legal action was initiated shortly before the expiration of New York's Adult Survivors Act. This state law permits adults who claim to be victims of sexual abuse to file a civil lawsuit and pursue damages, irrespective of the statute of limitations.

Although the lawsuit is dated Monday, the New York State Court e-filing system indicates it received the complaint on Wednesday. The plaintiff, identified only as Jane Doe, asserted in the lawsuit that the incident occurred on August 26, 2015, at the rooftop bar Catch NYC & Roof in Manhattan. According to the suit, after she requested a photo, Jamie Foxx replied, "Sure baby, anything for you," and proceeded to grope her until her friend intervened.

The lawsuit contends that Foxx's actions caused the woman extreme emotional distress and left her "rendered sick, sore, lame, and disabled," necessitating medical attention.

At the time of the alleged incident, Foxx was reportedly in a relationship with Katie Holmes, although reports suggested they had broken up in 2019. Earlier this year, Foxx experienced a "medical complication" while filming "Back in Action" in April, as stated by his daughter. Subsequently, Foxx and his close associates have been tight-lipped about the details, with Foxx mentioning in July that his emergency took him to "hell and back" without specifying the nature of the incident.

Business Insider's request for comments from representatives of Foxx, Catch, and the attorney representing the woman who filed the complaint went unanswered at the time of reporting.

November 23, 2023 CBN Governor Yemi Cardoso To Address Nation On Monetary Policy, Naira Fall

CBN Governor Yemi Cardoso To Address Nation On Monetary Policy, Naira Fall

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso, is scheduled to make a national address tomorrow, November 24, 2023, at 7 pm, according to a reliable source close to the CBN governor who chose to remain anonymous.

This forthcoming address holds significant importance for Governor Cardoso, marking his inaugural public engagement since assuming the position of CBN Governor over two months ago, following his appointment by President Bola Tinubu.

Governor Cardoso's speech is anticipated to delve into a comprehensive explanation of the CBN's monetary policy and strategic plans, focusing on addressing the challenges facing the national currency, the Naira. Given the economic uncertainties, this communication aims to offer transparency and reassurance to the public.

The announcement follows President Bola Tinubu's nomination of Cardoso as CBN Governor on September 15, a decision prompted by the suspension of the former Governor, Godwin Emefiele, on June 9. Four deputy governors were appointed alongside Cardoso, including Emem Usoro, Muhammad Dattijo, Philip Ikeazor, and Bala M. Bello.

However, since assuming office, Governor Cardoso has been criticised for not convening the bi-monthly Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) meeting, the apex bank's highest policy-making committee. The last MPC meeting took place on July 25. The MPC is instrumental in reviewing economic and financial conditions, determining short to medium-term policy stances, regularly evaluating the CBN monetary policy framework, and effectively communicating policy decisions to the public.

NAFDAC Seizes Expired And Revalidated Pharmaceuticals Worth N15m In Jos

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has confiscated expired but revalidated pharmaceuticals valued at N15 million from a pharmacy in Jos. Additionally, it has seized unregistered alcoholic beverages exceeding N30 million from establishments in the Plateau capital and nearby Bukuru metropolis.

Mr. Shaba Mohammed, the Director of NAFDAC North Central Zone, revealed on Thursday in Jos that the agency had received reports indicating the sale of expired drugs by the pharmacy. According to Mohammed, the pharmacy altered expiry date markings on pharmaceuticals to extend their shelf lives.

During NAFDAC's intervention, a room in the pharmacy was discovered filled with drugs whose expiration dates had been erased, awaiting the imprint of new dates. Mohammed noted, "These pharmaceuticals consist of both oral and injectable."

In response to the findings, NAFDAC has sealed the pharmacy and apprehended the pharmacist who failed to produce a current license to practice and the current operational license of the pharmacy.

Mohammed cautioned the public against purchasing pharmaceuticals from unregistered pharmacies, emphasizing the importance of reporting drug-related complaints promptly to the nearest NAFDAC office.

He also advised consumers of beverages and packaged foods to always check for NAFDAC registration numbers on products. Mohammed assured that NAFDAC's raids on pharmacies and shops in Plateau would persist until the state was free of substandard products.
