Haaland Brace Powers Man City to 2-1 Comeback Victory Over Brentford

Manchester City continued their perfect start to the Premier League season with a 2-1 win over Brentford on Saturday, thanks to two goals from Erling Haaland. Despite an early shock, City managed to turn the game around at the Etihad Stadium.

Brentford stunned the home crowd by scoring the fastest goal of the season just 22 seconds after kickoff, with Yoane Wissa finding the back of the net to give the visitors a dream start. However, City quickly regrouped, and Haaland leveled the score in the 19th minute with a sharp finish from a tight angle, making the most of only his second touch of the match.

The Norwegian striker struck again to put City ahead, outmuscling defender Ethan Pinnock and coolly chipping the ball past goalkeeper Mark Flekken in the 58th minute, taking his season tally to nine goals.

Haaland came close to completing a hat-trick and making Premier League history by scoring three consecutive hat-tricks, but Brentford’s keeper Flekken denied him multiple times. Despite those missed chances, City held firm and secured all three points, maintaining their flawless start to the campaign.

Nottingham Forest Stun Liverpool With Historic 1-0 Victory at Anfield

  1. Nottingham Forest pulled off a stunning 1-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday, marking their first win at the iconic stadium since 1969. Substitute Callum Hudson-Odoi’s brilliant second-half strike sealed the shock result, leaving the Reds frustrated and their home fans in disbelief.

Liverpool had control of the first half, with Luis Diaz coming closest to scoring in the 17th minute when his powerful shot rattled the post. However, despite their dominance, the Reds struggled to find a finishing touch as miscommunication and a lack of cohesion cost them multiple chances.

Forest capitalized on Liverpool’s inefficiency in the 72nd minute when Anthony Elanga delivered a superb crossfield pass to Hudson-Odoi. The winger cut inside and unleashed a curling effort into the top corner, beating Alisson to secure the win.

Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo’s tactical approach proved effective, but it was his timely substitutions that tipped the balance in his side’s favor, sealing one of the biggest upsets of the Premier League season.

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, confirmed the incident during a visit to the court to assess the damage. He was joined by Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice Haruna Isah Dederi, Chief Registrar of the High Court Abdullahi Ado Bayero, and other judiciary officials.

In a statement by the governor's spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf described the attack as a "stage-managed mission" intended to derail the ongoing corruption cases against Ganduje, now the National Chairman of the All-Progressives Congress (APC).

The vandals reportedly caused extensive damage, including to the office of the state Chief Judge, with losses estimated at over one billion naira. The attackers stole office equipment, destroyed office spaces, and set fire to vehicles and other materials vital to the justice system.

Governor Yusuf urged Kano's youth to avoid being used for violence and instead focus on acquiring skills for a better future. He assured the public that the judiciary, as the last hope for the common man, would be protected and ordered immediate repairs to the court building along with enhanced security measures.

Expressing sympathy to Chief Judge Dije Abdu Aboki and the judiciary, the governor encouraged them to remain steadfast in their pursuit of justice. He also thanked the people of Kano for their support of the administration, praying for continued peace, stability, and prosperity in the state.
