January 23, 2025 “I Poured My Blood, Sweat, and Money Into You” – Promoter EeZee Conceptz Calls Out Gospel Singer Mercy Chinwo

“I Poured My Blood, Sweat, and Money Into You” – Promoter EeZee Conceptz Calls Out Gospel Singer Mercy Chinwo

Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, former manager of renowned gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and CEO of EeZee Conceptz, has spoken out following allegations of embezzlement and withholding royalties made against him by the artist.

These allegations surfaced after a Federal High Court in Lagos ordered Onyedikachukwu’s arrest over claims of diverting $345,000 belonging to Chinwo. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which filed the case, accused him of mismanaging funds from Chinwo's digital music revenue and event earnings.

The EFCC prosecutor, Bilikisu Buhari, cited provisions under the 1999 Constitution and the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, as grounds for Onyedikachukwu's arrest. The commission warned that if he wasn’t apprehended, a public summons would be issued. The case has been adjourned until January 24 for Onyedikachukwu’s arraignment.

In response, Onyedikachukwu took to Instagram, accusing Chinwo of breaching their contract and being ungrateful despite all he invested in her career.

You’ve received over $625,000 from EeZee Conceptz, yet you spread falsehoods about a bad contract,” Onyedikachukwu wrote. “You pursued me for years, involved third parties to secure a deal, and now you weaponize law enforcement and religious organizations against me.”

He claimed Chinwo violated their agreement by failing to deliver a third album and withholding funds meant for the label from events and digital content revenue.

It’s painful to see lies being spread and efforts to weaponize institutions against me. I invested my blood, sweat, and hard-earned money into you. I housed you for months and even provided two-bedroom apartments for you and your band leader.

“You breached our contract, yet I didn’t attack you. I proposed reconciliation and suggested an independent audit for transparency, but you refused.”

Onyedikachukwu also revealed that he had been detained by the EFCC last year for nine days under duress, during which $274,000 was allegedly extorted from him.

Despite the detention and extortion, I still chose to follow the legal processes outlined in our agreement,” he added.

He accused Chinwo of trying to claim ownership of projects fully funded by EeZee Conceptz while failing to acknowledge the platform and opportunities provided to her by the label.

“For years, you’ve received quarterly royalties and immediate remittances from our 50/50 agreement. Yet, your actions continue to betray trust.

“I built the label that put food on your table and gave you opportunities beyond your dreams. Through God’s grace, EeZee Conceptz played a significant role in your success. No one can erase that,” Onyedikachukwu wrote.

He vowed to pursue justice through lawful means, placing his faith in the legal system and God to protect his reputation. He ended with a biblical reference: “Whoever repays good with evil, evil will never depart from their house (Proverbs 17:13).”

January 20, 2025 Akwa Ibom Government to Begin Payment of New ₦80,000 Minimum Wage and Arrears

Akwa Ibom Government to Begin Payment of New ₦80,000 Minimum Wage and Arrears

The Akwa Ibom State Government is set to begin the implementation of the new ₦80,000 minimum wage for verified workers starting with January 2025 salaries, including arrears from November 2024. Governor Umo Eno made this announcement during the 2025 Thanksgiving Service of the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) held in Ikot Ekpene Udo, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area.

Governor Eno praised the Akwa Ibom NUJ for their professionalism and patriotism in supporting the state’s ARISE Agenda and urged critics to focus on promoting the state rather than undermining its progress. He commended the leadership of the NUJ State Council Chairman, Comrade Amos Etuk, and pledged to complete the Union Secretariat during Etuk’s tenure.

The governor also announced the donation of an SUV for the NUJ chairman and saloon cars for the eleven members of the State Working Committee.

Addressing concerns about the new minimum wage, Governor Eno emphasized the importance of worker verification. He noted that salaries and arrears for verified workers would be paid promptly and discouraged misleading narratives about the process.

“The ₦80,000 minimum wage will be paid starting January, covering arrears from November for verified employees,” the governor stated. “If you haven’t been verified, you won’t be paid, no matter the threats of industrial action. Our commitment is clear, and I stand by my words.”

Governor Eno also highlighted his administration’s efforts to clear the ₦97 billion backlog of gratuities and entitlements for state workers, reaffirming his commitment to prioritizing the welfare of the Akwa Ibom workforce.

He described the frequent threats of industrial action by some labor leaders as unnecessary, stating, “I am yet to see another state government in Nigeria that treats its workers better than we do.”

In his Thanksgiving speech, NUJ State Council Chairman Comrade Amos Etuk expressed gratitude to Governor Eno for his support of journalists and reaffirmed the Union’s commitment to collaborating with the government to achieve the objectives of the ARISE Agenda.

The Thanksgiving Service was hosted in honor of Governor Eno and served as a platform to strengthen the partnership between the state government and the media in fostering development in Akwa Ibom.

December 23, 2024 Lookman Scores as Atalanta Tops Serie A, Roma Nets Five

Lookman Scores as Atalanta Tops Serie A, Roma Nets Five

Atalanta reclaimed the top spot in the Serie A standings with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Empoli on Sunday, inspired by Charles De Ketelaere’s match-winning performance. Meanwhile, Roma rediscovered their form with a dominant 5-0 win against Parma.

De Ketelaere scored twice for Atalanta, including the decisive goal in the 86th minute, sealing a hard-fought win in Bergamo. Ademola Lookman also found the net, helping Gian Piero Gasperini’s side leapfrog Napoli, who had briefly taken the lead after their 2-1 win at Genoa on Saturday.

Empoli’s Lorenzo Colombo opened the scoring in the 13th minute, but Atalanta responded swiftly. De Ketelaere equalized in the 34th minute, and Lookman—the recently crowned African Player of the Year—scored his 12th goal of the season during first-half stoppage time to put Atalanta ahead.

Sebastiano Esposito’s penalty in the 57th minute brought Empoli level again, but De Ketelaere’s late heroics ensured Atalanta’s victory. The Belgian midfielder’s fifth league goal of the season showcased his skill and composure as he navigated the edge of the box before delivering a precise left-footed strike.

Earlier, Roma responded to last weekend’s 2-0 loss at Como with a resounding win over Parma. Paulo Dybala led the charge with a brace, while Alexis Saelemaekers, Leandro Paredes, and Artem Dovbyk added to the tally. The win lifted Roma to 10th place, while Parma remains precariously positioned in 16th, just one point above the relegation zone.

Dybala’s penalty and Saelemaekers’ volley gave Roma a 2-0 lead within 15 minutes. The Argentinian added his second shortly after halftime, with Paredes converting another penalty and Dovbyk completing the rout late in the game.

In other matches, Venezia climbed off the bottom of the table with a vital 2-1 win over fellow strugglers Cagliari. Goals from Francesco Zampano and Marin Sverko secured the victory, despite Leonardo Pavoletti pulling one back for Cagliari. The result left Venezia in 19th place, one point behind Cagliari in 18th, while Monza remains at the bottom with 10 points.

Monza, however, had a chance to escape last place later on Sunday by facing Juventus, who remain unbeaten in the league this season.
