Sancho Seals Third Successive Win For Man Utd

Manchester United reeled off their third successive Premier League win under new manager Erik ten Hag to ensure Leicester City's troubled start to the season continued at King Power Stadium.

Jadon Sancho's smooth finish from Marcus Rashford's pass after 23 minutes maintained United's recent revival and allowed them to build on victories at home to Liverpool and away to Southampton.

United remained largely in control against an out of sorts Leicester, who remain bottom as they search for their first league win of the season and who, along with manager Brendan Rodgers, felt the impatience of the home fans.

Visiting keeper David de Gea was forced into a fine save from James Maddison's free-kick in the second half but otherwise United were rarely troubled, with Casemiro emerging as a substitute and Cristiano Ronaldo, another late replacement, coming close with an acrobatic bicycle kick.

Manchester United's performance was reminiscent of their victory at Southampton on Saturday - solid, unspectacular but highly efficient and enough to give them a third straight win in all competitions for the first time since April 2021, sending them up to fifth in the Premier League table.

Sancho was on the scoresheet again and his goal had the hallmarks of a player growing in confidence, taking Rashford's pass in his stride before rounding Leicester City keeper Danny Ward

Ten Hag's United will be growing in self-belief and they can put that to the test against early pace-setters Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Dele Alli Completes Move To Besiktas On Season-Long Loan

Former Tottenham star Dele Alli has joined Besiktas from Everton on a season-long loan, with an option to make the deal permanent.

Alli heads to Turkey after making two substitute appearances for Frank Lampard’s team this term in their first three Premier League games of 2022-23, while he was not named in the squad for the Toffees’ Carabao Cup win over Fleetwood Town.

The 26-year-old midfielder, who has 37 caps for England, only left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for Goodison Park in January, but he has struggled to impress for the Merseyside club and has decided to move to Istanbul for more game time.

Alli made 13 appearances for Everton – starting just one game – and it had been reported that the Toffees would have owed Spurs £10m if he played 20 times.

Alli was a star player at Spurs in the Mauricio Pochettino era, scoring 67 goals across 269 games, but failed to hit the same heights under subsequent managers and found it harder and harder to work his way back into the team.

He averaged 22 goal contributions every season between 2015 and 2018 and helped Tottenham reach the Champions League final in 2018-19, but they were beaten by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

In total, Alli spent seven years at Tottenham and was named in the PFA Team of the Year in both 2015-16 and 2016-17.

Leeds Beat Barnsley In Yorkshire Derby To Advance

Leeds United moved into the third round of the Carabao Cup by winning a Yorkshire derby against League One side Barnsley at a packed Elland Road.

The hosts looked in control when Luis Sinisterra scored from 25 yards and Mateusz Klich converted a penalty.

But Barnsley pulled one back through Mads Andersen's diving header and then missed a spot-kick of their own as Callum Styles could only hit the post.

Klich scored again with a curling shot from 15 yards to seal Leeds' win.

Jesse Marsch's team have been drawn away to fellow Premier League Side Wolves in the next round with the tie to be played in the week commencing 7 November.

Leeds made nine changes to their starting line-up from the 11 that began the 3-0 home win over Chelsea on Sunday, although they still took the lead after 20 minutes.

Manchester United’s Bailly Joins Marseille On Loan

French side Marseille have signed Manchester United centre-back Eric Bailly on loan for the rest of the season.

The deal for the Ivory Coast defender, 28, will see Marseille cover his wages.

It includes a 6m euros (£5.07m) obligation to buy subject to appearances and the Ligue 1 club qualifying for the Champions League.

Bailly joined United for £30m from Villarreal in 2016 but struggled to hold down a first-team place.

He suffered a string of injuries, making just 45 Premier League appearances in the past five seasons.

The arrival of Raphael Varane last season and Lisandro Martinez this summer has pushed him down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
