Peter Obi’s Campaign Coordinator In Bayelsa Leaves LP To PDP

In a significant political move, Mr. Alagoa Morris, the Bayelsa Coordinator of the Peter Obi Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), has officially switched his allegiance from the Labour Party (LP) to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Known for his dedicated advocacy in Environmental Rights, Morris made this transition known during a press announcement in Yenagoa on Thursday, just ahead of the upcoming Bayelsa Governorship Election scheduled for November 11.

Expressing his rationale behind this shift, Morris pointed out that Governor Duoye Diri's achievements extend beyond what is commonly known, prompting his decision to throw his support behind the Governor's re-election bid. "I have chosen to stand by the incumbent governor due to his exemplary track record compared to other prominent contenders," Morris affirmed.

After closely evaluating all candidates in the fray for the November 11 election, he emphasised that Governor Diri's credentials and accomplishments stand head and shoulders above the rest. Morris clarified that while he wasn't a member of the Labour Party before he was appointed the state coordinator, his duties in that capacity had concluded, and life has moved forward since.

Recounting his recent interactions with Governor Douye Diri, Morris expressed his conviction that it's crucial to back the Governor's ongoing efforts. He explained, "In the context of each incoming administration claiming to inherit empty coffers, supporting a leader like Diri, who is already collaborating with development partners and stakeholders, becomes imperative."

Morris hailed Diri's substantial but often undisclosed achievements, shedding light on the Governor's commendable endeavors. "Governor Diri's contributions are far-reaching and often remain outside the public eye. His dedication to progress is evident, and as a result, rallying behind his continuity is essential," Morris concluded, underscoring his unwavering commitment to the Governor's re-election bid.

August 31, 2023 Actor Patrick Doyle: Burna Boy’s Achievements Lack Individual Greatness

Actor Patrick Doyle: Burna Boy’s Achievements Lack Individual Greatness

Veteran Nollywood actor Patrick Doyle has expressed his opinion on the recognition and acclaim that singer Burna Boy has garnered.

In a recent Facebook post, Doyle shared his perspective, stating that he believes Burna Boy's recognition is not entirely deserved.

Doyle's post, shared on Wednesday, underscored his viewpoint that Burna Boy's achievements are not solely the result of his efforts. He criticised the criticised-winning artist, asserting that Burna Boy "has done nothing by himself that can be remotely described as great."

In his analysis, Doyle drew attention to the significant contributions of legendary artists such as Sunny Ade, Fela Anikulapo, and I.K Dairo, who paved the way for the current generation of artists. He urged Burna Boy and his contemporaries to acknowledge the invaluable groundwork laid by their predecessors and approach their careers with humility and respect.

Doyle's post conveyed, "The credit for the feats that appear to be puffing the likes of Burna Boy up have to be properly ascribed to the greats who cleared the thorny paths that have created pathways for his likes to walk through practically effortlessly."

The actor emphasised that greatness and remarkable achievements do not materialise in isolation. He called upon Burna Boy and his fellow artists to recognise the legacy of artists like Sunny Ade, Fela Anikulapo, Majek Fashek, and I. K. Dairo, who made significant contributions to the music industry from the 1960s to the 2000s.

Doyle's commentary reflects the ongoing discussions within the music industry about the influence of past generations on contemporary artists. His words encourage artists to embrace their roots and acknowledge the collective effort that has shaped the industry's landscape.

EFCC Returns $26,000 To Christine Brown, A Victim Of Internet Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has successfully orchestrated the recovery of $26,000 for Christine Brown, a British citizen who fell victim to internet fraud.

The commendable efforts of the EFCC led to the return of funds that had been illicitly taken from Brown in a case of online fraud.

Wilson Uwujaren, the spokesperson for the EFCC, confirmed this positive development in a statement issued from Abuja. Uwujaren shared that the funds were handed over to the victim by the Benin Zonal Command on Monday. Brown, expressing her gratitude to the Commission, acknowledged that its relentless actions relieved her after experiencing a loss of her life's savings to the fraudulent scheme.

The unfortunate incident began when Brown, a 70-year-old, was trapped in a romance scam orchestrated by an internet fraudster who presented themselves as John Barrowman, a supposed American entertainer. Unbeknownst to her, this individual was, in fact, a fraudster who exploited their romantic connection to extort money from her. The fraudster employed various methods, including wire transfers, Bitcoin transactions, and gift cards, to illicitly obtain funds from Brown.

In a formal statement, Kanu Idagu, the Zonal Commander, highlighted the EFCC's ongoing commitment to fulfilling its mandate for the betterment of society. Idagu stated that the Commission remains steadfast in its determination to restore victims of fraud wherever possible, and this recovery is a testament to that commitment.

Emphasising the need for caution while navigating the digital landscape, Idagu issued a cautionary message to the public. He urged individuals to exercise vigilance in their online interactions as fraudsters continually scour the internet, searching for unsuspecting victims to defraud.

The successful recovery of funds and the EFCC's dedication to addressing cybercrime underscore the importance of proactive efforts to combat online fraud and provide restitution to victims. The EFCC's actions serve as a reminder that the fight against cybercriminals remains an ongoing endeavor to safeguard individuals and their financial well-being in the digital age.
