Nollywood Icon RMD Opens Up: The Challenges of Faithfulness in Marriage

Renowned Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, recently shared his candid thoughts on the challenges of marital fidelity. In a candid conversation with comedian Teju Babyface, RMD expressed that remaining loyal to one's spouse can be a formidable task, citing that married men are often the target of individuals with less-than-honourable intentions.

Acknowledging the complexities of marital fidelity, RMD stated, "It is very hard, let's face it. Every one of us that is married is the target; I mean, look at women; how can we escape it." Drawing parallels to historical figures with dubious intentions, like Jezebel and Delilah, he emphasised the importance of standing firm against such influences.

In his analogy, RMD likened the situation to being a commander on a battlefield, underscoring the need for men to fortify their defences. He highlighted the significance of open communication with one's spouse, ensuring they know the challenges and taking proactive measures to guard against potential threats.

"It's like being a general; it's like being a commander on a battlefield. You drop, and the battalion scatters. It is very difficult; you have to get to a point where your wife understands what she is up against as well because if she is not up to speed or up to date on what she is up against, then your flanks are open," he emphasised.

RMD also addressed that swiftly leaving a marriage after a single instance of infidelity may not reflect a deeply rooted foundation. He suggested that a more nuanced approach and understanding of the complexities within a marriage can lead to stronger, enduring bonds.

In summary, RMD's insights shed light on the intricate dynamics of marital fidelity and the necessity for couples to navigate these challenges with open communication, mutual understanding, and a steadfast commitment to one another.

Nigerian Music Sensation Mohbad Passes Away At Age 27

It is with heavy hearts that we share the devastating news of the passing of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, better known to the world as Mohbad.

The 27-year-old Nigerian singer, who shot to stardom in 2020 with his hit song "Ko Po Ke," met an untimely demise following a medical incident that has left fans and the music industry in mourning.

According to sources from the singer's team, Mohbad sought medical attention on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, for an infection developed from a previous injury. While at the hospital, he received an injection as part of his treatment but tragically lost consciousness and did not recover.

Mohbad's rise to fame was nothing short of meteoric, with Marlian Records, headed by Naira Marley, signing him in 2019 before the release of his chart-topping track. However, his journey was marred by disputes over royalties, leading to his departure from the label in 2022. His legal team cited constant attacks, allegedly orchestrated by Naira Marley, as the reason for his exit.

A dark cloud had loomed over Mohbad in 2023 when reports surfaced of a suicide attempt, shedding light on his turmoil due to his affiliation with Marley's label. Bella Shmurda, during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, revealed a harrowing incident when Mohbad's girlfriend frantically interrupted a gathering, revealing that he had attempted to jump off a balcony. The incident served as a grim precursor to the unfortunate events that unfolded.

Mohbad's untimely passing has left a void in the Nigerian music industry, as his music made a profound impact in a remarkably short span. As the public grapples with this tragic loss, tributes from fans and fellow celebrities continue to pour in on social media, celebrating the legacy of a rising star whose music touched the hearts of many.

Nigeria And UAE Still Need To Finalise Agreements On Visa Ban Lift – Presidency

In a significant stride towards bilateral relations, the Nigerian Presidency has confirmed that officials from the Federal Government and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are poised to conclude discussions on the purported removal of the visa ban on Nigerians.

The breakthrough was announced following a meeting between President Bola Tinubu and his UAE counterpart, Sheik Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on Monday, September 11, 2023. Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Media and Publicity, stated that the two leaders had "finalised a historic agreement, which has resulted in the immediate cessation of the visa ban placed on Nigerian travellers."

While the UAE's official statement did not explicitly confirm or deny lifting the travel ban, it emphasised a commitment to strengthening ties and exploring opportunities for bilateral collaboration. The statement read, "The two leaders will work together to reinforce ties between the UAE and Nigeria for the benefit of both countries... Explored opportunities for further bilateral collaboration in areas that serve both countries’ sustainable economic growth, including the economic, development, energy, and climate action fields."

Addressing the matter on Tuesday, Ngelale underscored the importance of allowing officials from both nations to iron out the finer details for a smooth agreement implementation. He stated, "Given the agreement between the two Heads of State, there is a need to allow cabinet officials from both sides to work out the finer details and finalise the cross-sectoral agreements. Everyone can now allow the process to work out organically without speculation."

Recall that in October 2022, the UAE suspended the issuance of visas to Nigerians, which subsequently led to the suspension of operations by Emirates, the country’s leading airline, in Nigeria. This recent development signifies a positive step towards re-establishing seamless travel between the two nations and enhancing diplomatic ties.

Basketmouth Set To Release His Third Album In Three Years, ‘Uburu’, On October 20th

In the 1990s, Bright Okpocha, better known as Basketmouth, briefly ventured into the music scene, only to find that his unique sound could have resonated with the audience of the time.

Undeterred, he redirected his energy towards comedy, a decision that ultimately led him to great success. Now, after a prolific comedy career, Basketmouth is making a triumphant return to his musical roots with the upcoming release of his third studio album, "Uburu," scheduled for October 20, 2023.

During an intimate album listening party in Lagos on September 10, the 44-year-old entertainer shared insights into his musical journey, reflecting on how it has shaped his career. Basketmouth candidly revealed that his early foray into music featured a blend of Hip Hop and Afro beats, a sound ahead of its time in 1995. This led him to comedy, a decision that ultimately paved the way for his current success. He mused, "It's like a full circle."

Basketmouth's musical evolution began with his critically acclaimed debut album, "Yabasi," released in 2020, followed by "Horoscopes" in 2022, a collaborative effort with his partner, Duktor Sett, who also produced the forthcoming "Uburu."

"Uburu" marks a significant departure from his previous works as Basketmouth embarks on a new creative direction. He explained, "When I did the first two albums, I told Ducktor Sett I wanted us to be free. We made Yabasi for ourselves because that's what we were vibing to then. It was a dream come true for me. 'Horoscopes' was also more experimental. 'Uburu' is the first album we're making just for the people, for vibes and inshallah."

The album's title, "Uburu," an Igbo word for "brain," is a symbolic nod to the intricacies of human cognition. Divided into two parts, each containing seven songs, the second chapter is slated for release in February 2024. Basketmouth drew inspiration from the structural duality of the brain itself, explaining, "You know the brain is split into two when you look at it from the front. It inspired the idea of splitting the album into two parts."

The first chapter's track list is a compelling blend of sonic experiences, featuring titles like "Goalkeeper," "Party," "Jolie Jollof," "Koko," "Cover Me," "Link Up," and "Chasing Dreams." The album also boasts an impressive lineup of featured artists, including Bayanni, Boj, Duncan Mighty, Falz, Laycon, Lojay, Timi Dakolo, Torrian Bell, Paladin, Peruzzi, Qing Madi, Reminisce, Shatta Wale, and Victony.

With "Uburu," Basketmouth invites listeners on a musical journey that transcends time and genres, a testament to his unwavering dedication to his craft and a celebration of his rich creative spirit.
