Tensions Flare As Edo Deputy Governor Allegedly Locked Out Of Office

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State and his deputy, Phillip Shaibu, found themselves in a new confrontation on Monday, with reports suggesting that the governor prevented Shaibu from accessing his office.

Multiple sources within the government house confirmed that Deputy Governor Shaibu and his security team attempted to enter the governor's office. Despite being informed that Governor Obaseki was absent, Shaibu insisted on gaining access.

According to an insider, "All entreaties by the security operatives to him to kindly go back and call the governor if he wanted to see his principal were rebuffed. Instead, he kept pushing the gate, causing a scene. Observers are worried that he may physically attack the governor."

Another source revealed that the gate to the Deputy Governor's office and the main entrance to the building were secured with chains and heavy padlocks. After waiting for about an hour, Shaibu and his team eventually left. He attempted to reach the Governor but was unsuccessful.

Subsequent checks indicated Shaibu engaged the state Commissioner of Police and the State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) about the situation. He also sought clarification from the Government House Camp Commandant, Ibrahim Babatunde, who explained that it was a directive from higher authorities.

The Chief Security Officer, Williams Wabba, was cited as the person best positioned to provide further details. Despite Shaibu's call, Wabba did not arrive until after the deputy governor had departed.

Adesua Etomi-Wellington Reveals She “Friend-Zoned” Banky W Before Marriage

During a service at the Waterbrooks Church in Lagos, Nollywood actress Adesua Etomi-Wellington shared the story of how she "friend-zoned" her now-husband, singer Bankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, for a year and a half before accepting his marriage proposal.

She explained that one of the reasons for this decision was that she hadn't received a clear sign from God then.

Adesua humorously recounted, "I would like to say that friendship plays a very big role in laying the foundation of your relationship. I friend-zoned my husband for a year and a half [laughs]."

She went on to list the three reasons behind her decision. Firstly, she wanted to be sure it was God's will for them to be together.

Secondly, she hesitated to marry someone as high-profile as Banky W. Lastly; she wanted to build a strong friendship as a foundation for their relationship.

Adesua emphasised the significance of their friendship, stating, "And I honestly believe that the friendship we laid over a year and a half has played a very big role in how our relationship is today. Banky W is my guy. If you take away romance and sex and everything that makes a marriage, he would still be my guy. Banky is my best friend."

To which Banky W playfully interjected, "No, leave sex. Don't take it away [laughs]."

After captivating audiences with their onscreen chemistry in 'The Wedding Party,' Banky W and Adesua Etomi tied the knot on November 19, 2017, in a star-studded ceremony. They welcomed their first son, Hazaiah, in January 2021.

Iyabo Ojo Calls For Justice In Mohbad’s Passing, Plans Peaceful Protest

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo is mobilising a protest in Lagos State to demand justice for the late singer Mohbad.

She announced an Instagram live session and revealed that her NGO, Pinkies Foundation, will submit a letter to the state government on Monday ahead of the planned rally on Tuesday or Wednesday.

In her plea to Governor Sanwo Olu, Iyabo emphasised the need for thorough investigations, expressing a desire for genuine, concrete actions rather than superficial inquiries. She stated, "We parents are bringing the revolution to reality. The autopsy must be done."

Iyabo's lawyer and foundation will send letters to various offices, including international bodies, underscoring the urgency for justice. The objective is to conduct a peaceful rally to highlight the demands.

Reports indicate that Mohbad, an ex-Marlian Music Record signee, passed away at 27 and was laid to rest on Wednesday. The circumstances surrounding his demise have sparked widespread debate online. Additionally, a petition has been launched on change.org to advocate for banning Mohbad's former record label, Marlian Music, which has garnered over 250,000 signatures at the time of this report.
