Lagos Governorship Election Tribunal Upholds Sanwo-Olu’s Victory

The Lagos Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal has ruled in favour of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, dismissing the petitions filed by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and the Labour Party, as well as Olajide Adediran of the People’s Democratic Party.

Both Rhodes-Vivour and Adediran contested the results of the March 18 governorship election in Lagos state, challenging the victory of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat. The judgement, delivered by Justice Mikhail Abdullah on Monday, September 25, 2023, affirms Sanwo-Olu's win.

Unprecedented Solheim Cup: Key Takeaways From Europe’s Remarkable 14-14 Draw With USA At Finca Cortesin

In a nail-biting showdown at Finca Cortesin, Team Europe maintains their unbeaten streak, retaining the Solheim Cup with a historic 14-14 draw against Team USA.

Suzann Pettersen and Stacy Lewis will captain their respective teams again in the 2024 contest.

While watching Gleneagles' 2019 Solheim Cup drama was no small feat, this year's competition came remarkably close. Pettersen, the hero from four years ago, was entrusted with leading Team Europe to a potential third consecutive victory.

Despite a rocky start with Team USA's clean sweep in the Friday foursomes and their lead that afternoon, Pettersen's squad showed incredible resilience, levelling the playing field heading into the Sunday singles.

Although Europe faced adversity as Stacy Lewis' American team pulled ahead 13-11 with only four matches remaining, Caroline Hedwall, Maja Stark, and local favourite Carlota Ciganda rallied to secure a historic 14-14 draw, marking a first in the tournament's history.

James Maddison Playfully Teases Bukayo Saka’s Darts Celebration During First Goal

During Sunday's North London derby, Arsenal's Bukayo Saka cheekily emulated James Maddison's darts celebration, adding a touch of humour to the match, which ended in a 2-2 draw at the Emirates Stadium.

Maddison, who assisted Spurs' first equaliser, joked, "He must have still been doing the celeb when I turned him for the first goal!"

Reflecting on Saka mimicking his celebration, Maddison shared, "Me and Bukayo had a bit of banter and trash-talking on international duty. And I got told he did the darts celebration - he must have still been doing it when I turned him for the first goal, so I'll have a little word with him in there!"

When questioned after the game, Maddison continued to jest about Saka, saying, "A quick 501 at Ally Pally against Bukayo Saka, do you reckon?"

The 26-year-old also had a pivotal role in the game, helping to nullify Saka's second-half penalty, which momentarily put Arsenal ahead in the 56th minute. Just 90 seconds later, Maddison swiftly took possession from Jorginho, setting up Son for his second goal of the game, ensuring Tottenham's undefeated streak in the Premier League under new manager Ange Postecoglou.

Maddison will look forward to showcasing his darts celebration in Tottenham's upcoming clash against unbeaten Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday, set to be broadcast live on Sky Sports at 5.30 pm.

On the other hand, Arsenal will face Brentford in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday at 7.45 pm before returning to Premier League action against Bournemouth on Saturday at 3 pm under the guidance of Mikel Arteta.

Supreme Court Assures Presidential Election Petition Unaffected By Fire Outbreak

Festus Akande, the Public Relations Officer for the court, has stated that the fire incident that occurred on Monday morning has no connection to and will not affect the ongoing presidential election petition.

Earlier reports indicated that a section of the Supreme Court complex located at the Three Arms Zone in Abuja was engulfed by fire on Monday morning. Addressing the situation during an interview on Arise TV, Akande clarified that the fire outbreak would not disrupt proceedings within the court.

He explained, “There is no link, and it will not impact anything in the court. This incident occurred in a chamber equipped with a computer, other equipment, and a functional library used by any justice occupying such a chamber. The only items affected were the books and computer equipment in the chamber. Even the books can be replaced."

Akande further emphasised that this incident was unrelated to the ongoing proceedings, as it was caused by an electrical fault that could occur anywhere and is part of daily occurrences.
