Orban Receives Two-Game Suspension And €1,500 Fine For Striking Opponent In Belgium

After receiving a red card in KAA Gent's recent 2-1 victory over KAS Eupen, Gift Orban is set to face a two-game suspension.

The 21-year-old was sent off a minute before halftime for an incident involving an opponent, marking the first time in 57 professional games that he has received such a penalty.

Gent's official website has confirmed that Orban will be absent for one game, with the second match postponed. The Federal Public Prosecution Service has recommended this two-match suspension, with one game deferred. The statement clarifies the reason for the red card: "Orban received a red card in the match against Eupen after he pushed an opponent."

The Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office categorises the incident as "physical misconduct," specifically citing "a brutal push with high intensity." Orban's clean disciplinary record over his previous matches is noted to his advantage, with the office stating, "A minimum suspension of two matches - being the lower limit as determined in the indicative table - is appropriate." Additionally, a fine of €1,500 has been proposed.

Gent is anticipated to respond to the verdict by Tuesday. Consequently, the Nigeria international will be absent from Wednesday Buffalos' league match against Royal Antwerp. His return to action is anticipated in the match against RWD Molenbeek on Sunday.

Notably, Orban has encountered challenges in front of goal this season following his noteworthy performance in the previous term.

Ten Hag Bans Man Utd Forward From All First-Team Facilities

Following a public fallout after a 3-1 loss to Arsenal, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has taken a firm stance by prohibiting Jadon Sancho from accessing all first-team facilities, including the team's dining area.

Sancho was omitted from the United squad for the Emirates game, prompting Ten Hag to express dissatisfaction with the player's performance levels during training.

Sancho, in response, contested these remarks in a now-deleted social media post, asserting that the allegations are baseless and that he is unfairly shouldering blame.

Despite this disagreement, Sancho has chosen not to apologise for his statements. As a result, he has been directed to conduct solo training sessions at Carrington until a resolution is reached on the matter.

Court Stops Ondo Deputy Governor’s Impeachment

In a recent development, the Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an order restraining the Ondo State House of Assembly from impeaching Deputy Governor Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa based on allegations of gross misconduct.

This decision came after Aiyedatiwa's counsel, Kayode Adewusi, presented an ex-parte motion.

Furthermore, the court also directed Governor Rotimi Akeredolu to refrain from nominating a new deputy governor and submitting the nomination to the lawmakers for approval until the substantive matter is heard and determined.

Justice Emeka Nwite, after considering Adewusi's arguments, concluded that granting the application would serve the interests of justice. He stated, "Therefore, the application of the applicant succeeds."

It's worth noting that the embattled deputy governor had filed a motion on notice against the Inspector-General of Police, the Department of State Services, Governor Akeredolu, the Speaker of the House of Assembly, the Chief Judge of Ondo State, and the House of Assembly as respondents.

The application, dated September 21 and filed by Mr Adelanke Akinrata, sought four specific reliefs. In addition to the restraining order against Governor Akeredolu, the court issued an interim injunction preventing harassment, intimidation, or interference with Aiyedatiwa's official duties as deputy governor.

Justice Nwite granted all the requested reliefs and scheduled the next hearing for October 9. In a parallel move, Aiyedatiwa has also filed a suit in the High Court in Akure, seeking to halt the state's House of Assembly from proceeding with the impeachment process until his case in the court is heard and determined.
